@gasstation4054 ай бұрын
I like the engine and transmission of the new 540i better but you neglect to mention that its interior materials and available features in the US were drastically cut down compared to the prior generation. You can no longer get options on the 540i that are in the G80 such as rear wheel steering or the LSD or massaging seats. Most embarrassingly it doesn't have adaptive suspension, which not only is in the G80 but is also expected of every car in this segment and even available in the Lexus ES. The only reason the BMW appears to be close to the G80 in price is because of all these cuts, yet it's still more expensive. The G80 is just a much more plush and luxurious feeling vehicle - the fact that it has the two screens yet still retains buttons unlike the 5 is just the icing on the cake.
@MercOne4 ай бұрын
Why does a 5-Series need a variable suspension when it already drives better? You guys get lost in "features" on a spec sheet and don't grasp that a car is more than just features. The Lexus ES is a FWD flop mobile for the pensioner set, not even the same class of car.
@gasstation4054 ай бұрын
@@MercOne If you don't care about features then don't buy a luxury car. It does not drive better than any RWD car in this segment - and I've driven them all. Sorry, BMW doesn't have a secret sauce for making a 4500 pound whale on 20 inch tiny rubber band wheels not ride like crap over every pothole or roll on every corner without adaptive suspension. But hey, I'm sure they love suckers like you who buy into badges and can't even discern finer details. Enjoy your crappy rebadged Harmon Kardon 205 Watt sound system, though I doubt you even know what I'm talking about since all you can see is the badge.
@MercOne4 ай бұрын
@@gasstation405 And if you care about features so much and don't have a clue about how they actually affect the overall package then don't buy a luxury car. I've owned them, not just driven them. The Genesis G80 doesn't hold a candle a BMW 5-Series on the road when it comes to actually driving the car. BMW wrote the book on sport sedan dynamics years ago and they did it without any nonsense like adaptive suspension that in a car like a G80 is useless because this car isn't sporty at all. Flipping a button on this car doesn't turn it into a sport sedan in the least, so again what the benefit of the it's "Adaptive" suspension? Going from a soft ride to a sloppier one?
@gasstation4054 ай бұрын
@@MercOne Ah, "BMW wrote the book on sport sedan dynamics" - thanks for confirming your badge sucker status. So you've confirmed you haven't sat or even driven the new one, can't tell the difference between the G30 and G60 generations. You have no idea what the differences are, no knowledge of any details cut or removed, no knowledge of the weight gain, no knowledge of the driving dynamics, and no rebuttal against anything besides showing that you have zero understanding of what adaptive suspension even is. Amazing. By the way, you are aware that BMW still uses adaptive suspension in their lineup? Nice review, as usual. I like everything about the 2025 GV80 but I hate the panoramic screen (any vehicle, any brand), it places both the instrument cluster and in infotainment screens at compromised heights, no glare protection, the steering wheel has to be in front of some of the screen, it's not an improvement. The original GV70/GV80 dashboards were much better IMHO, I have a 2022 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige and love that interior layout.

That panoramic screen is probably a cost cutting measure across the industry since I imagine slapping on one giant screen across the dashboard is cheaper than 2 separate ones in different areas. It’s a way to look cool and save money.
@ayushmalpeddi27934 ай бұрын
@@KNRS927lol it's 1000% more expensive. Old screens were simple LCDs. The new 27in is OLED and is drastically sharper and nicer to use in darker conditions. Not everything is cost cutting. If they really wanted to cut cost they wouldn't have added more LED ambient lighting or updated the headlights to the micro lense array setup. You can easily find 2 smaller LCD TVs for the price of 1 large OLED TV. Actually you can probably find 4 for the price of 1large nice OLED TV.
