Wow, wow, wow! This is incredible! I am usually a paper planner girlie, but recently I have started to look into Notion. I love the beginning where you have the yearly planning and reflection like a bullet journal does. My goal is to become organised in a way that works for me in Notion and this is a great starting point for ideas. Thank you for your hard work and sharing! God bless

Ohhhh thank you!! My advice if you’re starting notion would be to start slow, it will take some time before you’re comfortable using it completely. I still use paper for daily journaling which may include a brain dump of tasks or an idea for a video or my plan for the day but then I typically move those ideas into motion.

Hello Ciara, I love your content and have recently saved up to purchase your template which really resonates for me. I was only familiar with some basics of Notion though and am already finding it challenging to negotiate setting up a new year/months with accurate dates for 2025 and other issues... Hoping this will help me get organised. There was a lot in this video. Some plan with me style videos would be great - from new area of life down (little confused where areas of life, areas of focus and projects cross, but maybe reading the book you suggested would help there). I would love to see how you might breakdown research areas of life.

Hi louise, this article might help about the connection between areas of focus and projects: gettingthingsdone.com/2011/01/the-6-horizons-of-focus/ for the connection between areas of life vs areas of focus, essentially life areas are just broader areas. Within a research role which would be a life area you might have different responsibilities like acquiring funding, getting publications etc. and then different projects related to those e.g. a specific application or paper.

This Notion organization looks good and complicated :) Have you every struggles with putting in all the tasks you should do on the weekly basis? Any tips and tricks for missing something out?

Great question. I'm actually editing a video where I go through my weekly review process for publishing tomorrow. I think firstly doing a general brain dump but then going through your projects and areas of focus. Keeping track of tasks that have ongoing work to be done means you can remind yourself of them weekly and determine if there's any further action. Same thing for areas of focus for example in my brand I can think about youtube content, instagram content, brand deals, emails and so on to think if there's anything I might be forgetting. I hope that answers what you were looking for.

I am brand new to notion so pardon me if they is totally wrong but @16:47 couldn't a synced block be used to keep all your preset filter views set up how you'd like?

Yep you definitely could keep different database views in a synced block. They’re really handy ways for sharing data across different pages

Sorry I get what you mean. Yes you could definitely do that. But because I like to have different versions in the quarterly/monthly/weekly spreads I like to just set these up at the start of each quarter 😊

I purchased this planner, and I can't wait to get it working for me!!! I do have a question though regarding recurring tasks. Am I missing how to set that up? I keep my bills in Google Tasks and they recur each month on the date due. So if I got paid on time, I put it into month view and pay everything on the first when I get paid. But it allows me to juggle bills if I'm between work contracts and not getting paid or getting paid from multiple contracts throughout the month. I'm really hoping this is possible!!! I'd been working on the tutorials for Notion the past few weeks and decided today, I'd must rather pay you LOL

Hi there! Thanks for your comment. There are a few different ways to implement recurring tasks in Notion since there have been some new updates. Personally, if I have a recurring task I will try to automate the action itself rather than duplicate the work. i.e. automating the payment itself to avoid repeating similar work and losing time. However, if you are keen to have this as a recurring task then you could absolutely adapt the Task database to incorporate this. The form button works really well for adding new tasks as it’ll open a mobile adjusted form to ask you some details about the task

The template is amazing, and definitely a bargain at the price you've set it at for its complexity and expansiveness. I'm wondering--the new day's entry has been appearing for me at midnight GMT, and I'm on the East Coast of the US, so 5 hours behind, which then puts it in the yesterday category when I wake up the next day since that is triggered by day created. Is there a way to change the internal calendar settings of the template? Still getting a hang of Notion, so sorry if that's a stupid question!

First thank you. Second: Ah, I had not considered this. So in the new day database you should see a blue button that says “new” if you click the down facing arrow you’ll see “database templates” if you click on the … beside the @today template you’ll see a menu, and if you click repeat it will open the settings to change when the day gets generated. If you can’t figure it out from these send me and email and I’ll send you a screen recording

It’s free for anyone to make their own pages in Notion so if you don’t want to pay for a template you can learn to use notion, and build a template with similar pages to the ones I’ve shown here. If you want to save your time by using the one that I’ve built, that’s the current price and it may even increase over time.

Honestly, using (or learning to use) Notion is very much a huge perk in itself. The benefits of it's versatility and powerful design remind me of MS Excel. Plus if I'm not mistaken, it offers a quick tutorial on how to use it when you first download and open it?

Totally get that. It takes some set up at first but my weekly planning / review / to do list update takes around 30-60 minutes depending on how busy I am. I run a people facing business and tend to have 50-200 things on my master task list at any given time so without this I would drown.

It's great but don't spend too much time working on the thing that will help you get the thing you actually need to do. It's easy to waste time like this.
