The whole fighting scene was designed by him and he gave the movie director a presentation. Obviously the Director was satisfied with his work and decided let him play that role at the final minutes.

Poor Henry gets hit in the throat. In real life he's out of commission for at least 5 min then sits with a bucket of strawberry ice cream the rest of the day. This feeling is terrifying. I took a shoulder into my throat while playing flag football with my friends during a Sunday Football party. I thought I was going to die. Hollywood magic at it's finest.

Shoulder hitting throat from a tackle(?) would have more momentum. Plus more weight behind it. This throat punch was from a kneeling position and thus wouldn't have the same momentum from the hip and torso movement and definitely not the same weight behind it as a shoulder would. However yes, there was still movie magic going on in this scene.
