I remember an article in the newspaper saying they wanted to start flying to Riga soon. That was in mid 2000's. Though article did mention their problems with getting FAA approval. Though, back then, they were trying to claim they have ordered brand new 747

I mean yea...you can get a 747 easily for at or below $2 million. But you are most likely only getting the actual "chassis" of that aircraft. Airlines usually have the engines and all the avionics removed (sometimes even the flaps) when they send aircraft to a yard for storage.

So. late but the air line wasn't a scam to start with, the period they didn't know they were a public company was because the company that handled the necessary papers refused to give them up, and never did. They got sued by the airlines, and were dismissed because they weren't clients and sued by their clients but were successful in waiting several years before trial until the their clients went bankrupted. It might have become a scam afterwards but it was not their fault.
