In addition to just not having the lower end chops, AMD doesn't have the market saturation in pre builds either. For most of my clients (30-100 endpoints) for basic machines, AMD is just not there for that low to miss end market. Now high-end and gaming, sure. But that's a small market in comparison to what an "average" build would be.

With the 4070 coming out with GDDR6 instead of 6x memory, if there isn't any price adjustment for that, it's kind of a slap in the face to anyone who would buy that card imo. Even if we're only talking a couple % of difference. I wonder if they are even making it noticeable the difference on the packaging for anyone who would be buying one. I also wonder if it's a different sku# as well. Great way to confuse your potential buyers. It was small enough for me to not bother keeping it. But hey, not a specialist. In any case, downgrading a product and keeping the same packaging while hiding the changes from the original spec in the specifications is like hiding a clause in the fine print. Me no like that.

outside of handheld SOCs a dedicated GPU will always be better than an APU. the faster GDDR memory, larger die space available, not sharing a cooler and not needing a motherboard bios update to run will always give dedicated GPUs the advantage. at least so long as AMD has to share the same nodes with Nvidia.

While people may have had some issues with Intel CPUs for a while now, the widespread publication of the issues is likely too recent to affect current market share figures much, also, I would expect that any shift in market share as a result of this affecting people's choices in the next upgrade cycle, meaning it would be a gradual change over the next few quarters as people upgrade older systems. After all, what AMD has to offer currently would be more of a side-grade than an upgrade for people with (possibly) affected Intel systems, and from what we have seen of Zen 5 so far, it doesn't seem to offer any significant improvement for the average desktop user. People using a 13/14th gen Intel system will probably just keep it, and hope that that it can tide them over until some actual upgrade opportunity comes along.

@fajaradi12232 ай бұрын
That should be done by the hardware manufacturer, not by the users. If it's done by the users, there's a risk of their handheld won't functioning properly because of missing drivers.
@sherrykda35112 ай бұрын
@@fajaradi1223 I get that in a way. It would definetly be nice if it was shipped with it from the manufacturer, but the effort of making a USB stick to install it and pressing 3 buttons also isn`t insane. As for the hardware not working cuz of drivers, as long as the hardware isn`t super weird and obscure, which it isn`t on mainstream gaming handhelds, there is basically no issue on a ready to use Linux Distro. The nice thing about Bazzite is that it asks you about your device so that won`t be an issue. For example, they ask you what PC you have and you can select smth generic like "Desktop PC", but you can also choose from Steamdeck, Lenovo Legion GO, ROG Ally (X), GPD devices and some generic Laptop brands. So compatibility is very much guaranteed. You can also pre-select NVidia as your GPU and you`ll have the drives for that too! But I do get your concern
