I'm hooking up 4 PS4s for split screen co-op and multiplayer gaming on a single monitor like back in the day. 4 x21 inch monitors and 4 PS4s make for a really cool couch co-op lan-party experience like you've never seen. It's going in a specific corner of my man-cave (which to be fair is my entire house at this point) with color coded PS4s, PS4 controllers and specialized mounting. I'll be posting a video soon.

I remember when split screen and picture in picture and multiple tuners were big in tv's and monitors, now you can't find a tv with PictureINPicture/SPLIT screen, not even the 8k $10,000.00 dollar ones. Back in the day, you could have 4 dvd 480P quality screens split four ways on a 1080P tv, let's say a game console, a tv channel, a dvd, a cable channel, and than select the one you want, or scan through multiple channels and inputs, like some tivo units and cable dvd's do. But as technology has gotten better, we got less and less features, headphone jacks (iPhone)/audio out/rca outs used to be on all tv's just about, multiple tuners and cable/sat/ant inputs/ video and composite for old school consoles, now its just hdmi and maybe 1 digital optical out for audio, Almost no newer tv's even have blu tooth.

The most important thing for me is care from a manufacturer about the consumers eyes. It is easy to notice flickering on a 43'' monitors from the other manufacturers during the tests, changes of brightness and video shooting. This monitors are harmful to the eyes. I hope LG will not fail on their 43'' monitors. Though it would be great to have the same quality but on the 75'' and with HDR.

I'm surprised that you were so surprised this type of monitor works well. I picked up a 40" Samsung 4K tv to use as a monitor for this exact reason - 4k and no scaling. The screen real estate is amazing. Especially for work and coding. I previously had 3 1080p screens and being able to see double the height of my code if I want is so helpful, combined with having a web browser on the other side in the top half and a terminal in the bottom half. Or having 4 windows all at 1080p resolution. Anyway, I love the size and resolution. Being able to game at 4k on a big screen is gravy

I gave up with smaller monitors after years of trying different sizes, resolutions and multi configurations. I still went back to this dang 40" 1080p tv screen. There's just no replacement for a large screen with good vertical height as well. FPS game immersion is second only to VR. We just need low input lag and higher than 60hz refresh rate options going forward.

The monitors are huge, these monitors are best for CAD/ security/ monitoring stocks as you can have multiple screes all viewing at once without the need to keep switching windows. However you will tend to need to keep moving you're head around as the screen is so large, this can be a big problem, so it come down to how you use it.
@QuantumBraced7 жыл бұрын
I've been thinking about getting this monster. I definitely have no specific use case for it, I just think it would be awesome for basic multitasking. 4K on a smaller monitor is wasted -- yes, the images look sharp, but you can't take full advantage of the pixels. At 43" every pixel will be fully utilized. I'm just not sure if I won't get neckpain from looking around the monitor all the time. I'm not sure I can cover it all in my field of vision. And if I sit back, then what's the point, you may as well get a smaller one.

The main benefit of 43'' screen is, that you'll see the extra detail of 4K resolution at normal viewing distance. With 28'' to 30'' 4K screens you really have to sit upclose to see the extra detail and in many cases 1440p will look indistinguishable to 4K, at normal viewing distance.

Hey Dave, great videos! Keep making them, they're to the point, aesthetically pleasing, and shorter than most which I really appreciate! Quick question on the monitor usage, when the monitor is 4-way-split it with your computer or laptop connected, can you alt+tab toggle between two of the screens as if it was literally two separate monitors, and still utilize the other 2 split screens for different things, say a security camera and an xBox?

I've been using a 43" screen like this for 2 years. It is great for coding and electrical engineering work. At first I had to upgrade to a max 2015 MacBook pro to drive it. But later I built a i5-6400 based system where its intel 530 integrated graphics drives it better than the MacBook pro is able to. Full screen schematics and layouts look great. So many vim screens can be open at once. For some reason these large screens have not caught on, my peers and coworkers seem to be happy using a laptop screen with maybe a 24" external screen. I thought for sure that during last year's MacBook unveiling when they talked about how great the L-shape design was for laptops, I thought they were about to unveil a large mac display where you push it to the back of your desk and create the L-shape. Nope, mac displays are still 27" maximum, no L-shape for the desktop.
