If they’re unscrupulous enough to steal half a birthday cake and then lie about it (because the waiter said there was none left, so they definitely ate the cake and didn’t just “overlook” it), they’d do all sorts of heinous things to his food. Having worked in a restaurant, I can guarantee you they didn't just lose the rest of that cake. The staff 100% ate the leftovers and probably thought no one would notice. If that's what they were going to attempt, they should have served the customers bigger slices so the claim would be more believable though. Or, just give them their cake back and let them decide whether or not they want to offer the staff any (which happened so often I had to start pushing the slices off on coworkers to avoid having all my daily calories consist of cake. I've also never worked at a restaurant that wouldn't let the customer cut their own cake though, and I've worked at some fancy places (the kind of places where you make enough tips to cover your rent in one weekend).

It’s worse because those weren’t even “leftovers” that the staff ate. If they’d served the group normal-sized slices, there wouldn’t have been any cake left. I think they saw that awesome cake come into the kitchen and a bunch of them wanted some so they decided to give the customers paper-thin slices and then they greedily stole the rest and lied about it. The fact that the slices were so thin makes me confident that the cake theft was premeditated.

Our local Crumble donated their cookies to the shelter I was in. Not bad in theory. Too much frosting, too big, impossible to eat in the time frame given. And we had them every night for months. I'm sorry, ik they are expensive but imagine, every single day for MONTHS. Along with trauma, discomfort and everything else about being homeless and living in a shelter we welcomed a nice, sweet treat. For the first two weeks. Too much is just too much. By the end, my kids and I CAN'T STAND those stupid things. 🍪 🤮 Eta: the calories!!!!😮 We had NO clue. I let children eat a whole damn cookie EACH! Until they got sick of them.

Am I the only one who thinks those cookies look disgusting? Would bet they're cloyingly, stomach-ache-inducingly sweet. Is there a word for a flashy-looking thing that screams "I'll be a disappointment?"
@Widdekuu91Ай бұрын
I want a word for a situation that could have been wonderful, if only one thing was different. I keep thinking of ironic, but it is not quite the thing, I think. Like a wedding where a dog pooped on the brides weddinggown. Like the only thing you should not poop on, the weddingsdress, is being pooped on by the dog. Or does that count as ironic?

Specious would be the word I think, it's second meaning is something like "misleadingly attractive"

I have never asked a restaurant if it was okay to cut the cake I made and brought. I bring my own cake server and plates and offer the waiter/waitress a piece too. I didn't even know it was a thing to have the restaurant cut the cake.
@SinTellerАй бұрын
I agree they're overhyped, but Crumbl is taking the flack for what had been a country-wide issue for years. A classic Cinnabon is 880cal/59g per roll. A small oreo cookie blast from Sonic is 70g of sugar. Look at bottled sodas. We've seen what goes into Starbucks and Dunkin coffees. The US has an added sugar problem, and plenty of people drink a Crumbl cookie daily in soda or sweet tea. Personally, I think we need to be discussing more than Crumbl and Starbucks/Dunkin. Hopefully this type of discussion doesn't just stop when Crumbl has lost popularity. Most of our easily accessible food is unhealthy, over-priced(but often times cheaper than the healthy options), and ADDICTIVE. Too many people couldn't tell you how many grams of sugar per day is too much in the first place, nor do they keep track with how much they're consuming. I remember my high school P.E. teacher just told us white bread = diabetes and fast food burgers = heart attack.

We have ‘not this brand’ fresh-made cookie stores in Australia. The cookies are smaller but I’m pretty sure they’re just as over-loaded with everything you shouldn’t eat and worth 3x the caloric intake you need in a day.

If you don't want to bake a big batch or do not have the resources to do so, many people have suggested supporting your local bakeries instead. Enough of this Tiktok trendy influencer fluff!! I totally believe that the staff ate 100%, but like why would they get such a huge portion of it for themselves though? If I were to do it, I would just get a tiny piece for myself, so no one would notice. The fact that they took that much makes me thinks that this may not have been their first time and that maybe because it was a high end restaurant they were working at, they could do it because rich people probably would notice these things less, let alone complain about it.
@kayoss8787Ай бұрын
You can legally bring in baked goods to Australia for resell but the rules are restrictive on presentation (which turning off that they are NOT affiliated with official crumbl the 4 hours the store was open was an oopsie boopsie) and other rules about product trademark logos etc which of course they violated…. Reselling products brought into Australia without the manufacturer's permission is called parallel importing, or grey importing. While grey imports are not illegal, there are some things to consider. If a business buys genuine products from overseas and imports and sells them in Australia without authorisation from the manufacturer, it is selling parallel imports (also known as grey importing or direct importing). And thank you for common sense on the second story ❤ love your content. 🤗

At our wedding, catering staff took most of the leftovers without asking. I found out through family that witnessed it. We paid for it, it's OURS!! I can't trust food service staff anymore and wish we didn't tip at all. What is wrong with people stealing from those that are paying you help celebrate a milestone. Disgusting.

Now that I know what leaving a cake to strangers ends up like, I'm so much happier of all the times I was told by staff to keep the cake sealed and to have no one eat it in the restaurant (because if someone got sick the restaurant could've ended up in court). Sure, it was annoying since I knew of everyone's allergies and there were no risks, but I'll take that over staff stealing my food, not giving me compensation and not apologising
