That play alone didn't cost Dallas SB 13, but it sure changed the momentum of that game. Pittsbirgh had a 21-17 lead with under 8:00 to play in the 4th but hadn't scored in the 2nd half. After that PI call they quickly scored a TD. After the ensuing kickoff was fumbled they scored on the following play. Pittsburgh scored 14 points in less than 20 seconds after that PI call and put the game out of reach. To add insult to injury the official on the play side of field ruled it incidental contact. An official from the other side came over and threw a flag. After the game the Cowboys received notification that it should have been a no call. Too little too late.

It took looking at several angles to see it, but the ball was over the goal line when the player's foot came down out of bounds, so the call was correct. Besides, the referee had been in position and immediately made the call, so it wasn't going to get overturned without strong evidence of an error.
@markl17334 жыл бұрын
@Cjb You are confusing when the ball crosses out of bounds with what happens with a runner's feet. When the ball crosses out of bounds forward progress stops. However, it doesn't matter when a runner's foot crosses out of bounds without touching the ground. So if the ball is still inbounds, the play is not dead until his foot actually touches the ground out of bounds. By the time the KC runner's foot touched down out of bounds, the ball was already over the goal line.

Luke Ferraro, New England fans just cannot accept that their cheating didn’t work against the Eagles this time because we were ready for it. I still say the supposed “head of officiating” was just upset because the refs didn’t hook up Tom Brady with a BS penalty against Philly on that play.

@Jmmoffa4 жыл бұрын
M C, you must really be an idiot, it’s not six victories, it’s six thefts. It’s a proven fact that they cheated and there is hard evidence, they were caught filming the NY Jets hand signals about 10 years and they were caught illegally filming Cincinnati this season. Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk saw something from the Patriots video trapping the Rams practices before Super Bowl XXXVI. The 2094 Philadelphia Eagles came into Super Bowl XXXIX with one of best defenses in the NFL and the Jim Johnson attacking was unstoppable and nobody could figure out what was coming, but somehow Brady knew what was coming every time, no, they cheated. They taped the Eagles practices and their hand signals. The fact that in Super LII New England ran the same trick play that the Eagles had been practicing for months it proves New England cheated again and taped the Philadelphia practices.
@Jmmoffa4 жыл бұрын
Pohorex, they are not saying it, it was the former head of officiating, that said it. He was just upset because they didn’t hook up Brady with BS penalties against Philly to steal him a sixth Super Bowl a year earlier. New England should never have there to begin with, Jacksonville had a great and they were better then New England, but they were cheated too. The ridiculous delay of game against the Jaguars, but there was no flag until after resulted in a first down. Several times after Brady snapped the ball a good 2 or 3 seconds after the clock ran out, but no flag. New England definitely should not have there last year, it’s obvious that refs cheated for them up last year, the head referee can be heard telling Brady “I got your back” and a ref fist bumps him before the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl 43, the list: James Harrison not ejected for punching Aaron Francisco No flag on Santonio Holmes for using ball as a prop (was called hard during the '08 season) Karlos Dansby's roughing the passer call Ben Roethlisberger NOT called for intentional grounding on the same play as Dansby's roughing the passer Adrian Wilson flagged for running over the holder. And then, MULTIPLE no calls on Harrison's INT return.

Most significant bad call in Super Bowl history is the no call on Shaun O’Hara holding Richard Seymour in Super Bowl 42. If called correctly, the Tyree helmet catch is called back, Patriots complete the first 19-0 season in NFL history, and Eli Manning retires this year with little to no Hall of Fame consideration.

Some of these are bullshit and some of these are exactly correct. The 2 that are bullshit are the “obvious penalties” against the Eagles in Super Bowl 52. They would not have changed the play. That was the best performance by refs in NFL history. Those 2 catch calls were another reason that was a great performance. Calling incredibly close calls correctly.

* I'll go ahead and highlight the disastrous, "are you high?", "were you hallucinating?" bad call (Defensive Holding) on 3rd down, under two minutes left giving the Rams 1st & Goal against the Bengals. The slow-motion replay and commentators Cris Collingsworth & Al Michaels' priceless reaction resolved ANY ambiguity. Befuddled and bewildered, Al Michaels just tosses the hot potato, "Hmm, what do you think, Cris?" Cris responds with a hesitant, tongue-in-cheek, stating-of-the-obvious, "Uhh, well that's what they're calling." Personally, I had no skin in the game, but was enjoying (up to that point) a great back and forth contest. The "criminal" insertion by the incompetent referee created instant dissolving of all suspense and enjoyment. The wonderful NFL "product" was broken less than three hours after "opening and playing with it."
