Dear Mariah, Thank you for all you have shared regarding the benefits of feeding raw to pets. I’ve convinced a family member to have her dog start and she’s doing wonderful; three weeks in, a fast transition adding Gussies Gut. The only concern is the risk for humans getting licked by dogs after tye dog eats raw. Can bacteria/germs be transferred to humans through saliva? I’ve been reading on this topic and I found mixed answers. I’ve listened to all of your videos and other veterinarians but I don’t recall that question being asked. Thank you, for all that you do and for taking the time to read my question. Katherine

Fantastic video as always!! How often do you add eggs to the diet? Is there anything to watch out for if feeding an egg a day/can it be too much?
@chevyhawk40610 ай бұрын
I've seen quail eggs at Whole Foods and duck eggs at a smaller health food store. I was buying pasteurized raised eggs for my dog from the company Vital Farms until I read where they supplement their hens feed with corn and soybean meal. How disappointing.
@masjanjka10010 ай бұрын
I was also disappointed to find out that majority of the quail eggs are not from free range quail, since it’s difficult to free range due to their size… and any egg will be as nutritious (or not!) as was the bird’s diet:(

That is disappointing! Do you have a farmers market near you by chance?

@@PawsofPrey Yes, and there's an organic health food store that has the type of pasteurized eggs I prefer.

I raise chickens so sometime they get fresh one fresh from the nest. I know what i feed my chickens and my dogs. Plus my dogs help protect the chickens so its their eggs are payment lol.

Hey there, I looove your videos. My dog is also getting raw food and eggs, but do you have considered the potential risk of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in raw pet food, even in organic options? While cooking for at least 10 minutes can mitigate the risk in conventional meat. I read many articles about it and it makes sense to me that most meat these days are full with antibiotics. I would like to know what you think about this, as I am not sure. Thank you

Good content.. appreciate your efforts..Can we feed one raw chicken eggs daily with shell for a small/medium size dogs?
@PawsofPrey10 ай бұрын
Thanks! For small dogs, I'd say that would be a lot of calories to feed daily. Medium dogs, this may be fine. Just keep an eye on their weight

Hi I work at a raw pet food store and i get asked this question a lot but don’t know the answer and hope you can help🙏 They want to know if raw pet food is complete. We sell ground up (beef, chicken, pork etc with the bone, organs and livers ground up with them as well) Does that make it complete nutrition for their pets?
@kristaanne21449 ай бұрын
Usually if it’s complete the manufacturer will put complete and balanced on it, or at least include the nutrient profile (required in most places). I buy a premade raw which is supposed to be completely balanced, but I do add in fish, egg, kelp and give a bit of extra bone for calcium since my dog is young. Most of the time if it’s whole prey ground up it will be pretty close to complete, but could need certain things like omega 3’s, manganese, etc to make it fully complete. Hope this helps!

One of my boys attempts to steal the yolk everytime we hardboil eggs. I usually try to hardboil an extra egg for the kitties to split. I have offered it to them raw too, gotta find something to use the egg whites for though since they won't finish the whole thing if the white is there.

Silly question … my dog is allergic to chicken, will she be allergic to chicken egg as well?
@lindalockhart12663 ай бұрын
Why not use the egg white too?
@karaleeann12116 ай бұрын
If you whisk the egg up the dog typically will eat all, rather then leave the white behind, even if you can only afford cheaper eggs, they are still a great source nutrition.

if my dog has a chicken allergy will a chicken egg cause inflammation? i have him on quail eggs to be safe but i really do like the price point of chicken eggs and want to cycle it in
@PawsofPrey10 ай бұрын
If it's a true allergy, in theory, yes the egg would cause a reaction as well
@mollycook184710 ай бұрын
Something to be aware of is that raw egg whites have avidin, which can bind to biotin. So maybe either skip the white or cook it if you're feeding a lot of eggs, as it can potentially lead to biotin deficiencies. If eggs are just a small portion of their diet, though, it is likely not a huge concern. (I would imagine effects to be more pronounced in smaller animals like rodents, where a whole egg would be a proportionately large amount of food.)
@eldwinc15465 ай бұрын
just softboil the egg. avidin denatures when the egg white becomes a cloudy white while yolk 's still yummy gooey
