american fishermen follow some of the strictest quotas in the world, look abroad for your problems
@ronliebermann
@ronliebermann Жыл бұрын
@@chamonix4658 Not true. The crab and sturgeon populations along the California coast are down by 90%. Salmon populations are down by 95%. Same with Tuna. And yet the fishing continues. As Americans, we can’t “look abroad” unless we’re willing to lead by example. No more ocean fishing. It’s impossible to find a political solution, because the entire process is controlled by money. The Mob does whatever it wants. Fishing boats must be removed from the water. And all the roads, dams, and obstacles that encroach upon Salmon migration must be removed. It’s not just about the fish: It’s also about us: Are we adults?

Something you need to consider is that for some, fishing is their only source of income and livelihood. In Alaska, aside from the big cities to the southeast, many towns and villages can't get imported goods because it's too expensive. So in order to survive, they have to fish and hunt for their own food.
@ronliebermann
@ronliebermann 3 ай бұрын
@@TimberlakeTigerGirl Well said! And you’re right, for some groups fishing is an economic necessity. So when discussing what might be called a “Global Protective Order” for the oceans, we’re “supposed” to balance the needs of some people; against the needs of others. But that’s not the correct way way to look at the problem. This might seem cruel, but there’s a fact: Not everyone who exists has a right to exist. If a child is born out of place, then he has no claim to life. If an old man has reached the age of eighty, then he has no further claim to life. The Middle East has millions of savage uneducated refugees who simply wander from one place to another. India has half a billion “almost-refugees.” Same with China and Brazil. Don’t romanticize the cruelty of bringing too many kids into the world. It’s a moral crime. So when discussing fishing villages, it’s the same as discussing Rainforest villages, or Galapagos Island villages. The “smallness” or “authenticity” of the group is of no importance. It’s the ecological destruction they cause which matters. In South America they destroy the rainforest and then plant Palm Oil farms as if that’s an ecological solution. It’s not. The only ecological solution is to reduce Earth’s population to three billion people; and to evacuate ecologically important regions. The groups who currently occupy territories covered by the Global Protective Order can’t be moved to another location. They can only be euthanized. And that job can done with complete moral authority. Saving the Earth, and preserving nature for the sake of our children is a sacred duty. We must kill five billion people if our planet is to survive. It doesn’t matter if they live in a big city or a small village. So there’s no reason to discuss anything with anyone. Saving the Earth isn’t a political process. It’s a moral absolute.
