I definitely agree with you about having him tested for asthma. My son was a preemie at 31 weeks and showed similar symptoms very early on and he was diagnosed with asthma at around 2 I believe (he’s 20 now! Lol). He was prescribed maintenance meds and a nebulizer for when he flared up and it helped a lot. Hopefully whatever is going on with Asher can get figured out soon! ❤

We went through this with ny daughter, she was eventually diagnosed with asthma at about 3 years old. Nebulizer treatments of albuterol (opens airways), and pulmicort (a preventative) were the best thing for her. Helped so much! Don't be afraid of the diagnosis, it opens the door to easily get meds that helps so much, making life easier. She's 22 now and we've got it down to a science now.

As a momma that has asthma and 3 kids that have it as well, please get him checked for it, that's definitely one of the signs of it, you can get a Nebulizer to help him as well... Home remedy is honey, ginger, lemon and abit of paprika... Mix together and give him 3 times a day for a few days... Hope it helps♥️

My oldest and youngest get croup when other kids just get a cold 😢. I use nebulizer because it’s easier than getting a steam running in the bathroom. But sometimes, you just gotta take them to urgent care for some extra care when you see that they begin to struggle. Good luck! The good thing is that they grow out of it most of the time!

My daughter had a croupy bark as a baby and toddler. It was so bad, people would literally remove their children from around her when she started coughing. This was even pre covid. Turned out to be asthma. She has since grown out of her asthma medication and is solid at 12. I think it would totally be worth it to take him to a pediatric pulmonologist. The difference in her cough and breathing was night and day once she went on her inhalers. Good luck.

Sounds like he has laryngitis. My both boys have had that multiple times, and it sounds exactly like that and usually only at nights. It sounds so scary! Doctor told me that once you have had that one time, you can have it often when you get ill. And when they get bigger they stop having that.

My special needs daughter got Croup often - and in the end I just stocked up on the steroid tablets which I would give her if I could see early onset. This meant no more middle of the night trips to ER. But definitely have him checked for asthma. The way the doctors explained to me is that with Croup - they struggle to breath out. And with Asthma it's the opposite - they struggle to breath in. Or vice versa - lol ! Wishing you all the best ❤❤

My oldest had that and also had sensitive lungs. Everytime he got sick with no matter what, his group always flaired up. He was treatet with some inhalation medication, two types one was steroids. Here in denmark we call it the seal cough. My sohn only needed treatment when he was sick not on a daily basis. But everything sickness would always end up affecting his croup and lungs until he got a pre teen. From about year 10 and forward it all went away. The best you can do is besides medication is try not to panic and keep the both of you calm. It all becomes worse when he cries. The steam from shower helps and also fresh cold air, also in the bedroom. I know its hard, but hang in there❤

My pediatrician recommended keeping some sort of soft drink with caffeine to use when I was desperate, because that helped to open up their airways. I actually had to use it a timer or two I was desperate and it did work. Also, I kept oximeter closed at all times. You can get them at Walmart or any drugstore. You just put it on, and it helps. Tell you what their blood oxygen level is. I would check with your pediatrician to see if they will test him for asthma, if they think he has asthma, they will give you a nebulizer that you can use. He has a flareup.

My daughter who is 19 months probably has asthma but they don’t diagnose it till 5 years typically, we do a humidifier, warm showers or just sitting in the bathroom with the water on so the steam helps soothe their chest, she does have a nebulizer and an inhaler, we also get it bad when she gets a runny nose and I bought something off of Amazon called a syringe nasal irrigator, you out water in it with saline and put it through their nose with them leaning forward and it gets all the boogers out, it’s a little scary the first time because they act like they can’t breathe but it really helps

My son gets croup. For him, it works to sit in the bathroom with the shower on the hottest setting. The steam helps calm the cough and allows him to breathe better. I know some people have success with popsicles during the worst of the croup episode. Mucinex multi symptom or cold and cough works well too.

Both my brother and I had bad croup coughs as kids…my mom would have us sit in the bathroom in the middle of the night breathing in the hot steam from the shower until the throat tickle went away (takes a good 20 mins sometimes). I also propped myself up with pillows to sleep sitting up a bit. Because laying down made it worse. I feel for Asher because I know how frustrating it can be. We both turned out to have asthma so have him tested. Thankfully we both grew out of it as adults. Now my only issue is if I get a cough it lingers a long time… my doctor finally gave me a nebulizer for those situations and that really helps. I use it 1-2X a year at most. they make them for babies/kids and it’s often more effective for coughs than a regular inhaler. Hope he feels better soon!!

He got admitted just before het turned one in pediatric high care, and there we figured out that he is allergic to dairy - causing too much phlegm and making his chest close up. He also had obstructive apnea (he had an operation at 1y7m to correct that) and he has asthma (also born prem) and is on daily steroid inhaler and normal inhaler and nasal steroids.

My son had croup badly as a baby, I would steam him over a bowl of boiled water, I would give him calpol or nurofen, and also ice cold drinks , I think this helped his throat . It was always evening time or night time when it would start, sometimes with a fever too, We always took him to the GP the following day, He was mostly given steroids through a nebuliser. The very last episode that He had was the most severe one He had, it was terrifying, He was struggling to breathe So much, We just carried on treating Him at home but in hindsight We really should have called an ambulance for Him. He was about 4 and a half when this happened and that was his last episode of croup He had , He hasn’t got asthma but he does have allergies, hay fever, Dust mite etc. I think You should keep doing what You are doing and if it’s really bad take Him to urgent care again, He will grow out of it and hopefully He won’t develop asthma. Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Bacteria Pneumonia. Stay on top of his cough and check his oxygen levels. Order an oxygen reader. My nephew was being treated just like this. Steroid and Flonase. Kept saying it was allergies or asthma. He ended up in the hospital because his oxygen were super low and they couldn't figure out what it was until he had blood work and showed he was becoming septic. He was in the hospital for 2 weeks on antibiotics. Doctors these days.... and yes pneumonia is spreadable.
