It doesn’t seem so long ago to me that if you wanted a big screen tv, you needed the Incredible Hulk to get it into your house or apartment, yet I was still thinking WTF? about the TV.I’m GenX, and remember life w/o tech so I tend to consider new technologies luxuries, not necessities. Plus, I’m on SSD now, so I don’t have tons of disposable income. But when my 70 year old dad & my sister helped me get out of a crappy apartment and into a better place to live, closer to them, dad furnished it & he bought a flat screen smart TV. Not a huge one, but it would have been totally reasonable if he bought a more basic tv, or no tv at all. But my dad has always said a tv isn’t really a luxury, and now I guess a flat screen isn’t a luxury. Could be because he’s a Star Trek fan like me. His TV is about the same size as the bridge view screen on the Enterprise, and of course, mounted to the wall. (I mean, it’s absurdly huge.)
