I totally agree with everything you said, Duck (You don't care if I call you Duck, do you? I know I've called you Duck several times already.) Another thing about breaking a random stranger's stuff even if you are giving them new stuff is just like when you buy a new car. You are very used to your old car. You know the feel of it, the way it "behaves" as you drive, the maintenance done on it up to current time, the memories you've had in and around that car. With a new car you have to get used to it and learn how it "behaves". Just as you said, Duck, "new" definitely doesn't necessarily mean "better". We have all experienced getting a new replacement item because the old one seems to need to be replaced and end up hating the new one. Another thing is that back in the 70's when I was growing up, pranks never involved anything getting destroyed or damaged or anyone getting hurt. It seems like these days EVERY prank involves one or both of those things happening, especially with someone getting hurt. And doing pranks on welders while they're welding is a very bad trend I've seen. Doing pranks on welders can get someone killed. Seriously. I'd never seen a prank on a welder while they're welding until just the past few years on YT. It's very dangerous. Back in the 80's and 90's when I did a lot of welding, everyone had common sense enough to know that you don't do pranks on welders. It's just stupid.

The worst ones are tech like phones or laptops, because yeah, you get a new device, but the old one had all your photos and accounts on it. The only time I've seen that prank done well is when a guy ran up, snatched someone's phone, smashed a different phone and made them think that their phone was smashed.
