After the first time I saw it I didn't feel that this was a lot of location shooting. Even commented on that in cinepals reaction, that I felt it gave me more of the Obi Wan vibes (when that show was trying to be serious) and that there would be a lot of volume used in this as well. But after seeing it a second time I not sure. It might be less volume work than I first thought... I'm holding out hope for real locations/sets. And also a mix of a serious tone and going all in on the kung fu Jedi action. To really set this apart from their other content. I love the gritty realism and slow paced drama of Andor, for me the best star wars content ever created. And I would love for this to be inspired by that not by trying to do the same thing but by making their own bold choices in telling their story in a clear style of its own. Looking forward to see if that will be the case 😊

THE PLOT TWIST THAT SHOULD BE: The 'Dark Acolyte' of this series is NOT THE CHARACTER WE'RE MADE TO BELIEVE. It is not the young, dark-skinned female youngling who later appears to have become a Sith rather than a Jedi. In fact, she becomes an assassin (or otherwise rogue character) and becomes a sort of anti-hero character for the story. Instead, THE 'DARK ACOLYTE' IS ONE OF THE OTHER JEDI, unbeknownst to her Jedi companions, working toward dark motivations from within the Jedi order, killing members in secret. For the sake of argument, let's assume that the writers of the show are better than what might be coming across to many as a mediocre (or even poor) trailer to set up the show. With that assumption in place, now look for the clues that would support my theory: - First, THE TRAILER OPENS WITH THE VERY LINE: "Close your eyes. Your eyes can deceive you. We MUST NOT trust them." - Next, Jedi younglings are asked, "What comes into your mind?". One youngling replies, "Light", one says, "Balance", and the last says, "I see fire". We are meant to think the one who says, "I see fire" will turn to the dark side. But a better, smarter, more engaging and intriguing story arc here, rather than the obvious which is handed to us in the first 34 seconds of the trailer, would be for the third youngling to respond with "fire", because she sees a future in which the peaceful stability of the Jedi Order and the galaxy is challenged and under assault from 'Dark Forces' ;) who will eventually reign down fire upon them. This youngling, who may well wash out of the Jedi Academy and go rogue, was trying to warn the Jedi of the ominous threat. - On the other hand, the second youngling, who responded by saying, "Balance", may be (but I think IS) the future acolyte of the dark side. She saw, in her visions, a need to bring 'balance' to the force, by bringing the dark side back into power. Remember- "For over a thousand generations the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the old republic." Although, I think Obi-Wan's statement here from the original trilogy was more a general comment on the Jedi's role over time, I do believe in the timeline of this specific 'Acolyte' show, the Jedi had not been directly confronted by the Sith for centuries, perhaps even a thousand years. (Feel free to clarify this point if you know for sure). The trailer itself has a text line that reads, "In an age of light... a darkness rises". The Jedi have been at their apex of dominance for a LONG TIME, (in our GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY), and they had become complacent in their unrivaled power. Recall the line in the trailer, "This isn't about good or bad. This is about POWER. And who is ALLOWED to use it". - The Sith, while they openly displayed their power in large numbers thousands of years ago, transitioned to the much more subtle, sinister doctrine of the 'Rule of Two' to wield the dark side of the force. I quote here from Wookieepedia: "The Rule of Two was a decree for the Sith, established by Sith Lord Darth Bane so they could operate in secret and eventually get revenge on the Jedi Order for their near extinction in the Jedi-Sith War... The decree commanded that only two Sith Lords must exist at any given time: a master to represent the power of the dark side of the Force, and an apprentice to crave it and train under the master..." With that said, what course of action by the Sith could be more sinister and dark than the 'acolyte' (or Sith apprentice) masquerading as one of their own Jedi, who had grown up within the Jedi Temple and been trained as one of them?! - I first suspected that the Jedi character played by Carrie-Anne Moss would indeed be the 'dark acolyte'. If this is true, however, Disney is truly playing a long con on us here, as IMDb lists Carrie-Anne Moss as only appearing in one episode. But perhaps her character is meant to appear to have died early, and we don't see the actual identity of the acolyte in any of their scenes, until later in the show, with a 'big reveal'. In any case, the plot twist of this story arc, or something very similar to it, would be far more interesting than simply, 'Jedi Youngling seemed dark to everyone. Jedi Youngling said dark things. Jedi Youngling got kicked out of the Jedi Order, then became an acolyte to the ways of the Sith. No-good, unhappy, pissed off Sith sought revenge.'... Where's the story in that? I truly hope this iteration of Disney Star Wars is much more nuanced than this, and that the trailer has a lot of people fooled as appearing much more simplistic than the show to come really is. Your thoughts?

3:40... I think we are to assume that the girl who said "fire" is a younger version of the person with the knife and then later with the lightsaber. So perhaps because she used to be a Jedi, they wouldn't consider her a Sith. Just a dark side force user. I don't know if the Jedi are as arrogant as they were in the Prequels, but it could be that they don't want to admit that there is a Sith out there. I love what the woman said about power: "This is about power and who is allowed to use it". Interestingly, Malgus (in the Old Republic trailer) said basically the same thing. I like that parallel there.

Yeah they're probably pretty arrogant still, it's only 100 years before Phantom Menace. They're still licking the boots of the republic on Coruscant. @@SharkMako Yeah, that sounds right. To note, though, Malgus said that the Jedi AND the Sith did this. That’s also a storyline that keeps coming back. "It's not about Good or Bad: It's about Power...and who wields it." This line in the trailer gives me hope The Acolyte is as significant as Andor 🤞🏾 and not a dud like Obi-Wan 😖 Really looking fwd to The Sith Council's return to the Channel = Appreciate the Chemistry you, Steph & Mike have re: all things Star Wars!

This didn’t grab me at all. It didn’t give the dark tone that the poster promised. It really just felt like more of the same we’ve gotten. Action was cool I guess. I’m gonna watch it and give it a chance but I’m not excited for it anymore.

Great trailer... didn't give too much away but didn't rehash old lore either. Nice tone, good visual effect with no over bearing CGI. Would absolute love to see Plagueise as the big bad in this series but when did Disney ever listen to the fan-base?! Time is gonna tell with the high expectations on this series.

Man I thought it was run of the mill, the usual tropes and predictable story arch! I also heard the episodes are going to be 30-35 minutes long. As soon as I heard that.... not interested! It's offensive to story telling the way they piece together episodes and leave you frustrated every time. My predictions are this show will have some great moments and look pretty, but will have weak choreography, weak drama and poor character development like all their productions bar Andor. All they care about these days is pushing modern societal agendas on their shows and it's killing them all.
@WickedArt57 ай бұрын
@@rubenfrankish I respect your opinion and sorry felt that way about it. Me personally the run time doesn't bother me but that's just me. The only me star wars disney plus things I didn't think was great was book if of Boba fett the rest my family and I have enjoyed. But that's the thing is each star wars movie or show will hit everyone differently and I for one am tired of the original trilogy era and am gad we are exploring a different time period and getting away from that stuff. Star wars fans are very opinionated and are entitled to their opinions but you can't take away from those that are enjoying what they are putting out. Does some of the new stuff have its flaws sure they do but so does the OG stuff. I keep hearing people say that it doesn't feel like star wars or its garbage but no one ever says or explains why it's garbage or what is star wars supposed to feel like. It feels like everyone wants their individual fan fiction and when it doesn't happen rhey complain. I again an find flaws in everything in any IP and there are going to be things I don't enjoy and that's ok there will be something else that I will since there is such a variety. Again that's just my opinion and like I said I respect yours on the matter and I hope the show is good and I hope that you will find enjoyment in it and if it turns out you dont enjoy it and i do or visa versa that's ok too.

If the Jedi cover up the murders and don’t reveal that it was their ancient foe the Sith that is responsible, that could be an interesting Segway into the prequel era. The Jedi could give into their fears of losing their power and perception that they are protectors of the republic. Or maybe the statement “the Sith have been extinct for a millennia” only refers to them as an organization (like an army of Sith)and not just as the rule of two format. The rule of two maybe isn’t considered as threatening to the Jedi as an army of Sith. Palpatine took a different approach with the rule of two. He had one apprentice at a time ,however, he was also using and manipulating the political system to take control by becoming the leader of the Republic as supreme chancellor. He then turned the Republic into his Empire. No army of Sith. Only he slowly turned his clone army into a bunch of Stormtroopers that he used to occupy the most of the Galaxy. No Jedi suspected him of being a Sith until it was too late.

I would actually like to see Carrie-Anne Moss's character come across the girl and train her in the dark side after seeing her potential. The same way Count Dooku got tired of the Republic and secretly became Sith. I think it would give her a more prolonged role. I would have liked to see her stumble across Darth Bane's Holocron and look for an apprentice. That would introduce Darth Bane to this canon.
