I cannot identify another set of married television series characters in the 1960s that had more overt sexuality between them than the Addams couple. Carolyn Jones played it exquisitely. If Morticia had been frigid, it would have never worked. She had to exude an identifiable eroticism, but in a reserved and dignified manner. Carolyn Jones was perfect for the part.

Growing up in the 60's, I truly enjoyed watching The Addams Family. Even if I could only get it on a UHF channel and through horrible static, even with aluminum foil on the rabbit ear antenna, it was still worth watching! And just like with Rocky and Bullwinkle, this comedy writing team had vision and creativity that can still be appreciated 60 years later! 😁👍

John Astin seems like a very nice person. I wish I might have someday encountered him in public like I once had "Lurch" I'll never, ever forget the time I met Ted Cassidy in a Sears department store candy line in Glendale, California(I lived "next door" in Eagle Rock). My good friend "John" who was just ahead of me in line whispered to me, "Hey Marty, look how tall that guy that just walked up in back of you is, he's a giant!" I thought I'd turn around and pretend to "just be looking for a wall clock to only see what time is was getting to be", and when I glanced up I saw "Lurch" without any makeup or costume! I recognized him right away, who wouldn't? Well, I wanted to say something to him, but I couldn't think of a single thing to say that didn't sound stupid, so I just threw a "fun knee" joke at him by saying, "Hey kid, you here to get free popcorn too!?". Mr. Cassidy's eyes grew a sparkle letting me know he thought what I said was funny, me calling him a kid and all, then he groaned out in true Lurch fashion, "PEEEEENUT.... MMMMMM & MMMMMMS!". Then we talked for a couple of minutes. I told him I was there to get new school clothes, he told me he was just browsing, but that he might pick up some new tools while he was there. That was on a Sunday afternoon. On Monday, I had the best bragging rights story to share before school, during breaks between classes, at lunch and after school let out too. I was 13 and in 7th grade going to a school that was Jr and Sr high, grades 7-12. Even the big kids wanted to hear what me and Lurch talked about, and where we had met. The show had ended by then, 1970. But they still showed reruns at the time.

This is pretty cool and very rare T.V Special on the Classic 60s Original T.V series Addams family narrated by Mr. Gomez Addams himself reflecting back on the hit show and it's Fond memories of the rest of the Addams es ..boy though since this was done for T.V as a special on the Addams Family back in early 1990s when the paramount 1991 Movie got released and due to the movie being a hit ..all of a sudden there was this big resurface of the old classic 1960s T.v show..but yea as I was saying what could've made this special even mote cool is to have reunited John Astin along with the 2 Addams children played by Lisa Loring who played little Wednesday and Pugsley his son played by Ken Weatherwax..those two were on a talk show together I seen back in the early 90s I think it's up on you tube but yea im sure if someone would have asked them to just make this t v special with John Astin and reunited dressed back into their old character clothing ..kinda like how they did for that 1977 TV reunion show halloween with the Addams Family . But of course they'd be much older version of pugsley and Wednesday talking along side John Astin as shown here.. and maybe also u could have thing make a special appearance from a black box on a table just to say hi..but of course they'd have to have got some body who'd be willing to use their hand as Thing cause I think the original thing from the series died who was also Lurch Mr. Ted Cassidy.

It's part of the creepy and kooky look of the home. Some things were supposed to be scary, but the Adam's never saw their things as scary or not the norm. I guess after watching these reruns as a kid I didn't even notice. That being said, I think the newer movies just used a cord to avoid any negativity. It is a bit shocking, but if you watch any full episodes here on KZbin you will see they are the most loving and accepting family that has ever been on TV.
