I subscribed a few months ago, right about the time of the short that blew up because, coincidentally, I had decided to try to learn Slovenian right around that time (I'm slowly making progress and your Slovenian content is extremely helpful in that pursuit, so thank you so much for that). I found your comic timing irresistibly funny and subscribed immediately. I am actually the odd bird who gets super psyched when I get an alert that you've posted content [8:40], especially shorts, because I know you're going have me laughing in short order. I swore off the big platforms, like BookFace and the Ex Twits' Nest in 2016, and never had an Instagram or TikTok account, so KZbin is the only way I get to watch your fabulous videos. Hi Barbara, I don't think I have seen that short video yet. I started following you not so long ago, and it was because seeing your videos and how you tell stories about your country brings me a lot of really nice memories of when I was almost living there. I visited Slovenija in 2001, I was there because I was sent by my company to implement some software in some of the Slovenijan banks. I was travelling and living like 9 months per year until late 2007, and I was really amazed and loved your country. It was not part of the EU at that time, but I immediately fell in love with the lifestyle and the landscape. Being myself born in Uruguay, South America, it was pretty difficult at first to deal with the language, but fortunately, as you have said many times, I had no problem communicating in English (ok, maybe not so much with some older people in some "remote" villages). I am still in contact with some friends, which after some time being there, and breaking the first wall of being a foreigner, I started to slowly being integrated to their circles (I even spent a couple of year spending Christmas in their homes). Ok, so many histories I could share, but I just wanted to let you know the reason I am following you, and I truly hope you can have fun with this that your are doing, and that you can also make a living from it. Found you mid of Juli 2024 ecactly over that short. Then started to look you up. What I love about your work is what I get as slightly self-ironic way of pulling my ear about what I don't know about Slovenia and setreotypes I might have. Yes, I looked Slovenia up (though I'm German, so living quite in your neighbourhood). Not all of the great landscapes were unknown to me. Due to Biathlon-Worldcup at Pokljuka. There is no coverage of it without showing the lake and it beautiful isle.

I've been watching your videos since your blonde hair days when you did social commentary videos. Was it like six-seven years ago? Since then I became more and more fascinated by your life story, your general attitude towards life, your perspective on things. I have a huge amount of respect for you because of all the journeys and travels you've been on (which you were gracious enough to share them with us). Also, as a German, I feel a European kinship with you. Like, again, the perspective you have on things - very refreshing from all the America-focussed content KZbin is puking at us. Maybe the greatest thing you did was to open my mind up about Eastern Europe, and especially about your home country Slovenia. I was blown away by its beautiful nature, and someday I want to travel there during summer and explore it (also the Slovenian beer). So, I'm very happy for your recent success and I hope that it will benefit you financially to keep you going. Which brings me to my last point: while I originally discovered you for your funny and entertaining social commentary videos about (woke) American culture, I was eventually happy for you to let go of that. You are way too intelligent, gentle and bright for you to spend more time with all of that toxicity and negativity (I was also able to leave that shit behind). Furthermore, I fully support your gut feeling to never aim for viral going content but instead doing what is fun and true for you. After the suggestion of your VRBRBRVR video, I went to your channel and saw what other videos you make. I liked the fact that you can make fun of your own language and culture, because it brings many peculiarities across in a cheerful way.
