I installed this optic on a crossman 760 air rifle.I have now shot the riffle around 500 times during target/plinking practice, and the kzbin.infoUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope has done well.With this optic, I have neutralized around 30 pigeons that were invading one of my buildings.For my short range air rifle, I will continue to use this scope, but will be upgrading to a more powerful scope, when I buy a more powerful air rifle, in order to shoot at longer distance.For the money I have spent, this scope has truly been a great buy.

I would love to see you show future Airgunners that they can achieve the same accuracy and results with a budget gun that is really amazing for the money like the Air Venturi Avenger. 440$ and holds a 10 shot group inside of a quarter at 75 yards and isn’t pellet or slug fussy. 180cc air cylinder that is hand pump friendly. Really an amazing platform that holds its own with my FX Crown and LCS SK-19….just saying. New shooter in a hobby we love shouldn’t have to believe that they need to spend 2-5k $ for an airgun to enjoy our way of life. Yes you do get what you pay for sometimes but this gun is just as good at 75 yards and less for real. I own 2 of the first generation of this gun called the Liberty/Alpha from Nova Vista and they are one of my favorite airguns 2nd only to my SK-19🤷♂️💯 My Crown doesn’t get used as much as my Avenger or Liberty to be fair. They are really amazing for the little cost. Thank you for the video and the get away from everything. God bless you and yours sir.

That's a very good point, Heath. We have featured affordable kit in the past - ratting with spring-powered gun and lamp, for example, and will do it again. I must admit that I like to use kit that I am familiar with when targeting live quarry, so that usually means the guns that I am using most at that time. All the best, and thanks for watching. Mat

Hi, I've watched a lot of your 'ratting' videos and note you use .177 & .22 rifles so I'm now confused which to buy. We have a rat problem and need to get them under control. The distance will be from 5m to 15m max. I had almost settled on a HW100 or R12 .177. I'd be grateful for your comments

Hey from France 🇫🇷 how many yards you can shot rats with a sub12 ? Thanks
@theshootingshow3 жыл бұрын
Hi. A sub-12 airgun has the power to kill a rat at 60m and beyond. The problem is that it would be almost impossible to ensure a clean strike to the head at that distance. I think 10m to 30m is a sensible range for sub-12 ratting. Thanks for watching. Mat

I wonder if you have an opinion as to whether rats can sense 850nm IR or not. I have raised this with several ratters and opinion is divided. Some reckon that they can but, like us, can't see 940nm IR. Others are of the opinion they don't even see red light never mind the near IR. I'm currently using a Megaorei 2 with the supplied 850nm source but am wondering if a 940nm light would be worth buying. I should say, I have not noticed rats been spooked by having the light pointed at them but I'm not sure if that is simply that they have yet to associate the light with danger. I have found they completely ignore their triggering of security lights even when placed on the ground next to their runs, presumably because there are no bad consequences (yet!). Any thoughts would be great. Thanks.

I thought that as well, quite a bark to it. It may just be the microphone amplifying the sound of the action. Probably a wooden rifle stock would deaden that somewhat.

No need for baited spots Matt, just be more mobile and go walk-about with a thermal spotter, once you get used to hunting like that you won't want to be sitting on a chair waiting for 'em!

@@jules-9372 Yep, you're correct of course, although I realize thinking about it, that on the pig farms I shoot on, I've found the sweet spots to stand so that I can cover the main kill zones without having to move too much, always a few to pick off when you are on the move though...

Hi Robert. I've been shooting rats with air rifles for more than 30 years. Always used to use mobile tactics, and still like to from time to time, but find that carefully targeting one area at a time is usually far more effective than wandering around.
