It’s ridiculous he tried to claim it was somehow all an accident- did he truly think ppl would believe he “accidentally” borrowed a different car, parked it out of sight, quickly got out and grabbed a young girl off the street, severely assaulted and then strangled her, afterwards going to significant effort to hide the evidence. The letter to his brother confirmed he felt no remorse. Pleading to avoid the death penalty to “spare his family” seems outrageous when you consider the endless torment he has inflicted upon poor Carlie’s family and loved ones - their memories of her forever tainted with the knowledge of how horrific and terrifying her final moments must have been. It's extremely important that an offender's rights are not violated, otherwise they can have their case collapse. The most important part about rights, is that they're afforded to absolutely everyone. That way you can be sure they'll apply to you too, no matter what you're ever accused of. It may seem wrong when a court pushes to abide by their rights, but you don't want a higher court to throw out a case because the state violated his rights.

And this case was tried in Florida. Not New York or California. I understand the need to protect the rights of everyone, even criminals. But this trend towards giving second chances benefits the criminal. Not the normal citizen.

My heart breaks for the family because the aftermath destroyed them. Family died, the mom took to drugs and prostitution 😢 The chain of events is just heartbreaking. And that mother calling it an accident- she is part of the problem. Coddling your monster son!!!!!

I’m in Sarasota. I remember when this happened in real time it was devastating to the whole community. I was living only 3 miles from where it happened. My daughter was just a year old. I could not imagine something like that happening to her . Evil is real.

I absolutely adore your narration. Your empathy for the victims and the victims loved ones and friends who are left without the answers, missing a very important person for the rest of their lives. You show each and every one of them so much respect, and I respect you so much for that.

The brother is just as much of a POS. If my brother did what that man did, no way in hell would i be communicating with him in prison, much less coming up with a secret code to communicate with him. Hearing the enabling mother made me sick too. No wonder her sons turned out that way.

What an outstanding tribute to Carlie! Wow, this was so detailed and thoughtful. Thank you so much! I live about two hours away from Sarasota and I have never forgotten how devastating this story was. Then, in February 2005 another young girl was abducted here in Florida. Her name was Jessica Lunsford, and she was taken from her home by a repeat offender. It’s a horrible case, but I would like to see it covered.

I can usually get through these videos without crying... But thinking of all of the people affected by her murder and thinking of the pain that this poor little girl went through for no reason just shatters my heart... And for her memorial caretaker to be so affected because he lost his own daughter to murder... It just breaks me 😔

I'm sick of addicts using their addiction as an excuse for committing horrendous crimes, especially towards children. As if he'd never would've done that if he'd been sober..smh. BS. He obviously already had those disgusting thoughts in his head and this time he decided to act on it. 😡

Thanks for the video, sissies! Don't recall ever hearing this one before. How sad for Carlie and her entire family... talk about a ripple effect on how one "man's" actions had affected so many. Joseph, John, and his mom all sounded like pieces of trash. Also sad that Tara's family will never be able to get justice for her. Anyhow, hope you ladies are enjoying your weekend! Stay safe!!

We need to teach our children to SCREAM! My mother taught me to roll under a car if approached by a stranger in a parking lot. Peace to Carlie ❤

Bear in mind, there wasn't anyone around, nor was there a car. He'd parked his own car where it couldn't be seen. Sadly, people don't react to a child screaming because children are allowed to scream while they're playing. If she fought, he would have picked her up. I don't see any way she could have avoided him in the circumstances.

I watched this yesterday on your Patreon and wanted to ask if you take case recommendations. If so, I'd love to hear you cover Sean Dugas from Pensacola, Fl. I went to high school with him, and we ran in the same social circles. Super nice guy. He disappeared during Hurricane Ivan and was murdered by a set of twins. They'd killed him for his impressive Magic Card collection, that (I believe) was valued at over a hundred thousand dollars. They killed him, packed up his house and his body in a U-haul truck, and drove him across state lines to bury him under their father's driveway in Georgia. He was a journalist with the Pensacola News Journal with his whole life ahead of him. Thanks if you do cover his story😊
