When I bought my Spectral (check it out on my channel) it was a 140/150mm bike, now the new spectral is a 150/160mm bike which is the same as most of the new strive range. So is the only big difference between the two 29er wheels? *and the shapeshifter
@gmbn6 жыл бұрын
Agreed! The new Spectral is definitely a more aggressive trail bike than the old one, with the Neuron getting a re-vamp to sit closer to that area that the Spectral once filled. So the main differences between the new Spectral and Strive are shapeshifter, wheelsize and travel, but it's mostly intended at different use. The Spectral is a smash around trail bike whereas the Strive is your out and out Enduro racer!

I fully understand that top end bikes like this have a place but unless I’m missing something I really fail to see how reducing options (alloy,27.5 etc) and likely upping the price helps anyone except sponsored and real top end athletes. If the industry as a whole keeps on neglecting its roots ie beginners and lower cost entry bikes it’s fairly obvious that in years to come that the sport will suffer as beginners now are priced out of the game before they start. But maybe I’m wrong and the next video will feature canyons new entry level £500 hardtail but I somehow doubt it
@gmbn6 жыл бұрын
Hi Graham, I think we can all agree that mountain biking is quite an expensive sport! Those entry level bikes are in Canyon's line up... but this is not an entry level bike!

Hey guys, how come you always test the flagship models? I’m struggling to find a 5.0 Strive or a 930 Ransom. Because even an entry level bike in this class is not exactly cheap, but the top spec ones cost as much as Neil’s old Golf Variant. Most people do not want to spend 7 or 8k for a bike, so why don’t you review for the majority of your subscribers.

@hiutopun6 жыл бұрын
Adrian O Donnell Thought of that before, but there are lots of ups and downs in the trails here in Hong Kong. Therefore, I’d like preserve the mode shifting function, so I bought the replacement shapeshifter piston. Now the gas leakage issue is gone, but the bushings of the rear shock are jammed. It shifts modes extremely slowly.

Being fully carbon and 29er only will put alot of people off. Being small i don’t like 29” wheels and i don’t like carbon. It seems like the only change is the shapeshifter, a more sleek looking design and a shorter head tube. It is a good looking bike but i won’t be upgrading from my old canyon strive for only two or three changes
@kiranram55646 жыл бұрын
Totally agree they seem to be really limiting their market with only 29" and the carbon frames which are way out of many peoples price range
