Spider-Man fans were pretty excited when Andrew Garfield stepped into the role of Spidey with The Amazing Spider-Man, and apparently the movie made enough money to warrant a sequel! The Amazing Spider-Man 2 brought us a whole lot of villains and relationship problems, apparently learning nothing from Spider-Man 3. A lot of questionable decisions went into making this superhero movie. What’s up with Electro’s motivation and randomly fixed teeth? Why is Harry Osborn dying so much faster than his dad. Why does Gwen Stacy rush to her death? To answer all these questions and more, step inside the pitch meeting that led to The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It’s super easy, barely an inconvenience.

2:20 I’m not sure how everyone misses it every time, but it’s pretty obvious if you actually pay attention to the movie the reason why Electro actually turns evil. A police sniper is told to shoot Electro if he moves, but Spider-Man, not knowing that, and trying to get Electro to an area not populated by civilians who could possibly get accidentally injured by Electro’s unstable powers, tells Electro to come with him to talk, and of course Electro has to move to do that, so the sniper shoots at him, which makes him think he was set up by Spider-Man, and to add insult to injury, Spider-Man was his favorite person at the time. Imagine if your favorite person in the world betrayed you in your eyes. You’d probably get pretty damn pissed too. And adding the fact that Electro was already not entirely there in the mental area, that makes things even worse, and so he becomes evil as a result.

This movie took one of the most famous and beloved storylines in all of comics and rendered it nearly unrecognizable. Sony let down a lot of fans. That's why this second movie iteration didn't last longer. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone did the best they could with the material.
@GeorgeMonet
@GeorgeMonet 2 ай бұрын
They didn't render it nearly unrecognizable, they completely misunderstood it. The original line "with great power comes great responsibility" is a warning about how when you have great power your actions have greater consequences you need to be careful of. But Sony's version is saying you have a moral responsibility to help people and that responsibility has nothing to do with having powers. Someone with two extra quarters would be required to give those quarters to the first poor person who asks for them.

The part where Peter finds his dad's message in the train is super similar to Tony Stark finding his dad's tape in iron man 2. Even the message is almost identical as well, both dads made some discovery and said only their sons will be able to solve the mystery and what not. Both of them did a 'I love my son more than anything in the world' bit and then their sons finally found closure or something...yeah they're pretty much the same scenes

But at least Tony's dad wasn't a total moron and simply left a legacy for his son to finish. Peter's dad decided to abandon his son and stop developing a treatment that would have greatly benefitted all of humanity just because a handful of people MIGHT misuse it to genetically engineer better soldiers.
