I'm Brazilian and I like Jim a lot, so I got really disappointed of how little he knew about it. Also disappointed at Nepstad for not mentioning that there are no hippos in the Amazon, and the most amazing fact about it we just found out a few years ago: as massive as the part of the river we can see is, there's a much more massive river flowing under it, underground. We really need to protect it, and now that our president is not a nazi psycho anymore, there's a good chance we can do it.

Australia has rainforests too, it's not all bushland. Rainforests take hundreds of years to develop. When rainforests lose their tall canopied trees they become vulnerable to repeat fires.
