DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN! Two years back, I was an XL, 50 something, happy-go-lucky, armchair bushcrafter. Fast-forward to today, I’ve literally spent thousands on tents, stoves, gear, ration packs, craft beer, rum and hot chocolate. Totally broke but fit as a flea and loving every minute! Thank you that Bloke!

Scottish Borders @@nicolab2075 I think most folk just fire on thru., on their way to the Highlands/ Islands etc. But, if you're able to go 'out' of the school holiday period, you can end up having the place to yourself. What with protected wild-camping, right-to-roam and such a beautiful area - there's just too much in the Borders and SW Scotland to pass by!

Who doesn’t like a spirit burner , lunch pit stop under a large oak tree ? I appreciate the intricacy of the way the sounds are captured in real time . From the variables in the depth of slosh or crunch of the boot steps you can almost feel how the pack weight compresses it. The nuance of passing cars , the low end of open fields to the tight middle tones of fence lined footpaths . These are all relatable sensory memories and conjure up experiences of days out side ….as opposed to days like today when I’m sat here procrastinating when I should in theory be working . A beautiful distraction nome the less . Simon a bucolic bloke in the woods

Rain and wet, very similar to East Tennessee. It’s been raining, off and on, for three days. It’s wet. You must love those leather boots; you’re sure not giving up on ‘em. I’ve gone to non-Gortex, low top, trail shoes. They’re light and dry quickly. Upside down and a squeeze, then hot rocks helps them to dry over night…not completely, but some. Good chow helps me to stay warm. It rains so much we all put our dry stuff down into plastic garbage bags or nylofume bags. Otherwise our stuff gets wet…not good. I have to say, your food has improved since your earlier KZbin days. My wife has found an excellent hot chocolate recipe, with or without coffee. You sure have some beautiful…and interesting, country there, wet and soggy, just like here, ugh. Thank you for sharing it with us.

@@simonablokeinthewoods : I've been looking at reviews for the DJI Pocket Osmo 3, with the built in gimbal. Small, light seemingly good in low light but unfortunately not weatherproof. Otherwise it would seem ideal for your style of videos. When you came to that stream, I thought, what a shame he is going to have to turn back. However, you seem to be only the second person in history to have been recorded walking on water. What you go through to record these videos...medals in the post. I don't think I would have enjoyed putting soggy boots on the following day for more miles of walking, you are a star. Loved seeing the interaction with the animals, from the cows doing yoga stretches to the muntjac deer and the history lessons in between. I would have liked to have learned more about the bloody hand though, you skipped through that part too quickly. Wonderful videos, not quite 'Only Fans' but pretty good, looking at old planes and a few pints afterwards...bliss.
