About the elk trophy on the lodge wall… Kentucky has worked for about the last decade at reintroducing elk herds into eastern KY on abandoned mine lands. We have a state lottery for hunting season that allows for controlled hunting. The herds are healthy and flourishing. Congrats on the award!

I wish I could be your neighbor. I was born & raised in a small Texas town and I still live here with the love of my life. I love Texas and I especially love TEXANS! But about 45 years ago I read a book that took place high up in your mountains and ever since then I have wanted to live in the Appalachian region. My heart is drawn to it and it feels like home to me. Watching y'alls videos helps me to feel like I am there. Thank you for sharing your world with those of us that can't be there. The drive between Asheville and Johnson City, Tn over Sam’s Gap is one of the most beautiful drives in the Appalachian mountain chain. I’ve traveled it many times and enjoy the vast mountains. Thanks for sharing the video and congratulations to your Mom. Also, the Appalachian Trail crosses Interstate 26 close to Sam’s Gap.
