BBC is full of lies and bias. I used to watch it a lot but not anymore, since the lie of weapons of mass destruction to peaceful "protest" in HK (2019), and to the latest zero report of Xi Jin Ping visiting Saudi, BBC has proven again and again that it is not a reliable broadcast station.

The BBC anchor was displaying blatant neo-colonial thinking: never mind that the people of Singapore are MORE prosperous than their peers in the West, due in large part to Singapore's government; never mind that the people of Singapore are MORE happy and MORE satisfied with their governments than their Western counterparts. In the mind of the modern neo-colonialists, so long as Singapore does not adopt Western institutions it will be inferior. Kudos to Mahbubani for calling out the hypocrisy.

When I was young, I used to look at America as the land of heaven. American as the smartest people in the world. I studied so hard and then I immigrated to America only to realize that America is 20 years slower than Asia in term of culture, public infra structure, and education. I could easily get A+ in my college courses and yet I heard about a lot of young Americans complain about how hard were the courses. Americans are lack of compassion and courtesy toward each other. Their society is money talk. Children have no respect toward elders, teachers, and parents, everything seems to go down into drain.

Sadly western cities are on the decline in terms of safety, quality of living etc and we in the west need to learn from cities like Singapore- just look at recent riots in France and the decline of American cities with drugs, homelessness, safety and so on. The Western system of one person one vote (universal suffrage) often elects incompetent or even irresponsible leaders. There are countless examples of incompetent leaders being re-elected. If the purpose is to choose the most popular characters or idols, the Western one-person-one-vote system may be a good method. But choosing a national leader is very different from choosing an idol. It is to choose who has the ability to govern the country well. However, the common people generally do not understand politics, or have no interest in politics, and they generally lack the ability to distinguish who is able to govern the country. The result is that whoever controls public opinion will win the election. The two prerequisites for winning an election are a lot of campaign money and media support (manipulation of public opinion). In the real society, it is the consortium and the enterprise group that owns these two (funds and media). The electoral system in the West will eventually evolve into a capital-controlled country, and elites/politicians will become puppets of capital. The ultimate goal of the West is capital control of the world, which explains why the US is so aggressive in promoting Western electoral system all over the world. The West declares that its system is a "democratic system" and labels all countries that do not implement Western-style elections as "authoritarian/totalitarian countries". Regrettably, some people who advocate the Western electoral system blindly believe in the West (brainwashed). Treat all countries without Western-style elections as "authoritarian/totalitarian". We should be open-minded about the method of selecting leaders, and we should not regard the western-style election(universal suffrage) as the only option. If the ultimate goal is elite rule, then meritocracy(任人唯贤) is more likely to achieve the goal of elite rule than the Western-style election.

It's true and that's why right wing American conservatives are now becoming fearful of Asians. This year, a law professor at an American university created controversy on multiple occasions (including comments made on a Fox News program) about how the US faces the threat of an "Asian elite" due to East and South Asian immigration to the US and that the US would be "better off with fewer Asians and less Asian immigration".

Prof Kishore is always an outstanding and most knowledgeable lecturer and learner in our current history and modern world, and not only in Singapore but to the rest of Asia. He is also one well favourite permanent representative being picked by the late founding prime minister Mr. Lee Kuan Yew representing Singapore for Washington and United Nations in our early years. He speaks with sense and truth about today’s West and East of the world. During this interview with BBC, we could see that the interviewer is simply insular and refusing to admit that Asia has already become dominant than the western countries particularly USA and UK, for the economic and political significance and situations of the world. I shall also say more to add on is that today’s western countries leading by both USA and UK are still obstinately refusing to face the reality about Asia’s leading and lifted power. Personally, I am always interested to learn anything from Prof Kishore’s lessons and thoughts about development and situation changes on globe 👍🙏👏😀

While I do agree that Singapore did great and will be in the future, it is still a fact that Singapore is that one tiny dot in the whole world. Compared to large countries, the burden Singapore has is actually miniscule in comparison. I repeat, I'm not belittling Singapore's achievement but try magnifying Singapore to the likes of India and China and see how hard it'll be to actually achieve something 'together'.

Political freedom is when we can feed our children well, give them a great education, that when they are in school, they are safe and not be shot to death suddenly, that we have not just a roof over our heads, but a home we can own and be proud of it, that we have great amenities like clean water and electricity every minute of the day, that we have savings and that we can walk the street at anytime without fear, that our country has absolute clean unpolluted air, the best medical care, that we have a government we can rely on whenever an unforeseen crisis hits. So, do NOT judge us by your LIMITED vision BBC. In Singapore, we can see through foreign hidden devilish agendas to destroy our nation and we will fight you to the end.

You haven't defined political freedom here. Sounds like you have described life in Singapore. Have been there twice and agree with what you say here. Better in many ways than my life in the west. But I have Political freedom in the west which counts for a lot - but not everything.

@@glowndark1 Totally agree. We shouldn't dictate. We can criticise like we criticise our own Governments. For democracy to work there needs to be independent institutions, law, Police, education, religion ect.. If they are not present democracy has a high chance of failure. It's a silent but very powerful revolution & one backed by the Government as it's been declared that after 2025 no new ICE/ Petrol two wheeler vehicle below 150 cc will sell in India. Criminal wastage of money to buy fossil fuels which destroy mother earth while production & further spreads pollution, dangerous diseases & harms mother earth during usage. Advantages are huge to our country from the perspective of energy security & competitive advantage, electric mobility will reduce oil import costs, lower trade deficits, & limit vulnerability to oil supply disruptions & process shocks, finally electric mobility will deliver a host of environment benefits , including cleaner air & savings of over 87 billion Usd/Yr. or 30,000 Crore per day. From ten Lacs (one million) barrels of oil use daily presently, our decision to shift to Electric mobility, its guaranteed to reduce to one Lac (100,000) barrels daily by 2025 & further to 10,000 barrels by 2030. There's 2 countries that learned China's model of Confucian-Socialist Republic with Meritocracy and adapted it into their own unique versions: Vietnam and Rwanda. Since then both countries' economies grew exponentially; especially Rwanda, it's now the safest country in Africa that's prosperous with a stable society. I'm not saying China's model is the best, but it's been proven to be the most efficient system that works wonders in China, that means there's something for everyone to learn a thing or two from and make improvements on your own country's system. But the West is just too arrogant for that. Clearly the Western leaders do not care about the people. Especially the USA, "Of the people, by the people, for the people" is nothing but an empty slogan.

Our scope of exploration is based on what we know while in reality, the unknown is infinitely bigger and richer in possibilities. The journey to the unknown is a way to find entry to secret chambers in your cerebrum. Surprisingly, the unknown is just behind your subconsciousness. Opening it takes proactive thinking that can happen to anyone under any circumstances.
