“One lesson that I’ve learned after studying geopolitics for fifty years is that a ‘benevolent great power’ is an oxymoron.”
Singaporean diplomat Kishore Mahbubani speaks on the state of U.S.-China relations and their implications for the rest of the world at Asia Society New York.
Watch the full conversation with Orville Schell, Arthur Ross Director of the Center on U.S.-China relations, and Rorry Daniels, ASPI Managing Director, at the link in the video. 🔗

Singapore just stays with pro-China stand and keep gaslighting the world about how 'nice' China is. China should stop its imperialistic stand and become a productive and peace loving international member as it itself claims to be

That is so true. Ukraine trusted the west too much and got itself into huge trouble. Taiwan has not learned the lesson and will eventually pay a huge price believing the west too much and will end up like Ukraine, too.

Yes look at Ukraine, Taiwan, Philippines. They forget that if at any time the American voters get tired of a war like they did with Vietnam, they will bail on you. Don’t just assume you can rely on other countries forever. Work towards peace and consensus

Also what’s funny is that within a few years of US leaving Vietnam, they established a relationship with the Communist government and tarted trading with the country so all the stooges look foolish 😂

Philippines is protecting their own interest. China is claiming parts of Philippines. Unlike with Ukraine where all Putin wanted was for them to not join as Nato member. To keep it as a buffer state between him and Russia. He shoudl have just given him an assurance that he won't all would have been good.
