I first saw this mini series about the Atlanta Child Murders in the 80s when I was a teenager and it scared the hell out of me as well as making me fascinated with the case. I've been trying to find a copy the watch it again for years but no DVD seems to exist. I finally tracked down a copy and thought I'd share we everyone as I'm there are others who have been trying to find it. Worth watching for the great cast alone, including Morgan Freeman, Martin Sheen, James Earl Jones, Jason Robards, Rip Torn, Bill Paxton.

One of the worst and sickest kind of Serial Killers are those who "kill for thrill/pleasure",killing a person/child,only by "opportunity",totally without motives behind their reason to kill.They are themost challenging murderers to catch. Like the Highway`s Trucker-Killers,that kidnap the victim in one state,torture/kill in a 2nd state,and dump the then "unknown" victim in a 3rd state. How can ANY family,or Police officer live with such knowledge,when victims finally are DNA-matched,16yrs after?

I have to disagree with you, sir. Other murders did occur AFTER Wayne was arrested. The situation is that two weeks after Wayne was arrested, the Official Police Task Force was dismantled. At least 4 additional murders took place, but the police stopped counting, and the media stopped reporting on the murders. In actuality, the murders of young kids stopped BEFORE Wayne was arrested. The victims on the List kept getting older, and finally, Wayne was arrested and convicted for killing 2 adult men (who were convicted felons and hustlers) Some of victims knew each other and likely knew their killers

I have an unusually good episodic memory of my early childhood and many of my childhood experiences. My father, Steve Taylor, was a disc jockey on Z-93 in the C&S bank building from 1978-1980. My parents and I lived in an apartment complex called Hillsborough. I was three and a half years old, and I was playing in my bedroom and looking through my toy box when I saw a very young black man with an afro and metal glasses wearing a peach colored polyesther shirt with a design on it unbuttoned down to the third button looking through my bedroom window staring at me. I started to feel frightened by the sight of this stranger looking at me, but before I had a chance to call for my mother down the hallway, the man started waving his hands, as if to say, wait wait!, and then put his index finger to his lips, as he wanted me to be quiet. Worried, in my childlike mind, I returned to my toy box, trying to ignore him, but he continued to watch me through the window for at least five or six minutes before he finally disappeared. Oddly enough, he appeared very happy, smiling almost to the point of laughter, and he didn't seem to have any concern or worry about what he was doing at that moment. I am white, but I am absolutely certain, without any doubt whatsoever, that the young man who was peeping into my window in our basement apartment was Wayne Williams. In hindsight, I think that he had heard my father on Z-93 and he found out where he lived because Williams was interested in radio at the time. I just happened to be in the room he looked into at that moment. I had no idea who Williams was until many years later while reading about him in a newspaper, and I instantly knew that he was the same man whom I had seen years earlier.

I was in my early 20s when all of this was happening....living in a state far away, and a new mother with my first baby son. The news on the TV was sickening....and left us horrified and dismayed that sooooo many children had been killed. I missed the programs on TV that were produced after the case went to trial....and I'm catching up to all of them that I can find now: thanks to the gift of KZbin. I feel so sorry for all of the families and loved ones who experienced the murder of their children. For many of them: there will never be closure....never be relief...and the grieving will be forever. I'm wishing all of them continued strength, resiliency, and comfort apart from their troubles.

@AmlSept
@AmlSept 5 жыл бұрын
I can't agree with you that the real murderer stopdd. As killing people especially children is certainly a disease that likely can not be cured and the murders would have continued. Perhaps the was also a sickness in Wayne. We heard that his parents were schol teachers and since Wayne was an only child perhaps he grew up with jealousy about the attention the other kids were geting from his parents. As we all know a teachers job never stops at 3:30 there is a lot of grading and lesson plans brought home to do. Wayne is also known to be a showman requiring a lot of attention and it seemed to me he attracted the younger generation. What do you Think?
@debbiepeter112
@debbiepeter112 4 жыл бұрын
@@AmlSept I actually agree with your point that a murderer doesnt just stop. They cant, otherwise most of then would stop sooner wouldnt they ? That's the problem, there is something wrong with their brain and they cant stop things like killing kids so very unlikely he decided to stop to let someone else take the blame .I dont think not getting attention from your parents makes you a killer, especially of children. It is a known fact that people like this have something different in their brains. They are just born evil.

yeah, but according to the evidence in this case, there was only one victim (the first little girl) that had shown any signs of possible sexual assault. All the others showed no evidence of being violated or having had put up a struggle. So, I doubt these murders had anything to do with child prostitution.

After the law enforcement team heard the splash they chased the Williams car down for what should have been a brief investigatory stop. They were entitled to do so as they had a particularized suspicion that the occupant had done something which attracted their attention. The officers exceeded the scope of the traffic stop and detained Williams. He was interrogated without a lawyer present and his car was searched. The officers needed probable cause to do this but they had no evidence that a crime had occurred or a warrant to search the car. The officers actually went on a fishing expedition when they stopped and searched Williams car. There is nothing in the record saying that Williams gave permission to search the car or that he gave up his right to have an attorney present during the roadside custodial interrogation. Everything the prosecution used after the bridge incident is called "the fruit of the poisonous tree." Did the trial court err in admitting reference to the splash and the detention of Wayne Williams to the courtroom.?? I'd say they did..the officers exceeded the scope of the traffic stop by interrogating Williams without an attorney present and seizing evidence from the car with no search warrant.

Just curious as to why the 3 parts of this mini series are of very different lengths. Was it broadcast on TV initially as a 2 part series maybe... And on here the part 2 has been split up to make into parts 2 and 3. It'd make sense, as 2 and 3 combined are approx the same as part 1.

Aaaahh, I see now. Pt1 ends at about 1hr 32m. The other 50 odd minutes are blue screen then blank. I often wonder why some youtube videos aren't cropped. Some actually even start playing over again once finished, whie only half way through the length of the upload. Maye there's a good reason for it, as I see it quite often, frm many different users. Get around copyright maybe. Ca think of any other half decent reason.

@@KDL861 Hi. I didn't really get an answer. I'd replied to my own question with a realization that some parts of the miniseries finished earlier than the stated ted video length. Just the end of a vhs tape probably. But alternately I do find on many different videos, from different users too, that often a 1hr video would be 2hrs long but would just begin playing it all over again for wotever reason I dunno. I doubt its the users/channel owners/uploaders doing it. I suspect youtube do it for wotever reason. I dunno. Makes no sense at all to me. Hope I find out why one day..? Cheers.

If williams is innocent why did the murders stop when he was locked up ?
@nickelwindow53
@nickelwindow53 10 жыл бұрын
Many things don't add up. First, Williams was a chunky awkward man who I can't see able to sling these bodies into the river, woods field etc. secondly, the Williams home is small. They had to know if boys were walking through there living room into Wayne's bedroom and not coming out alive anyway. Finally, I think Wayne was involved in a few of the murders, but the klan, child molesters, and others were killing at that time and there crimes blended in with the others.

Robin has a shitty way of wording things, and a lot of her comment is ignorant and heartless, but in terms of strict facts, she's really not wrong. A lot of the reports and early rumblings at the time were that these were kids who were part of a child prostitution ring - neighborhood pedophiles would pay to engage in sexual activity with them. Watch a lot of the actual nightly news reports that are uploaded here on KZbin, some of them do go into this aspect of the case.

I've seen this and other things about the child atlanta murders 2 things scream out to me anyway firstly I think it was a woman who did this kids would willingly go with a woman no questions asked and strangling as the mo that a very personal way to kill anyone. 2 if it was a woman it would also explain why there was no signs of struggle or fighting back she could have say let the child sleep or lay down or even a hug then strangled them I think Wayne Williams maybe guilty of something but not murder or the child murders at least I think he was a patsy so they could close the case as solved this is my take on it anyway
