In 1985 I was 8 years old and Barbarian on NWA World Wide Wrestling terrified me, I legit thought he was an untamed beast and he gave me nightmares, him and abdullah haunted my dreams lol. Barb was so physically huge with the face paint and the studded collar and the non speaking, I always sat a little closer to the TV when barb came on because I thought one day he might just eat somebody lol. It's fantastic that we get to hear their stories in so much detail these days and who would have thought he was such a sweet man. Barb, Haku, One Man Gang, Big Boss Man, Earthquake and John Studd were all terrifying heels but by all accounts the nicest guys. Great interview, keep them coming.

One of the best wrestlers ever! The Barbarian should have had a run as The World Heavyweight Champion!

What an amazing life this man and Haku have had together...imagine growing up on a small island and being chosen by your elders to go fight in japan and then spend your entire life in the business? Such a great story...

Meng and Barbarian were legitimately scary in WCW. Looked like two guys who would beat someone to death in the parking lot over a poker game or something. Great times!!!👍👍

Barbarian was one of those wrestlers that made me believe he was his character. Tully Blanchard is another one I would have been afraid to run into back in the day. I'd love to see him on with you sometime.

What a legend. He made a basic move the boot to the face look lethal. Himself and Meng are the two of the toughest wrestlers ever but at the same time two of the nicest.

The Warlord was a giant with gigantic muscles and was soo cool to me, so I've been a fan of them two ever since!!! Barb was jacked and you can tell he was serious with the 🤜 fists too!!! Long live Barb!!

One of my childhood favorites. I loved how the Barbarian moved in the ring. It is hard to put it into words. But everything was 'springy' and crisp. He would slam 300 pounders like it was nothing and then bounce back up. No unnecessary facial expression...just mean. There aren't monsters like this anymore. So i don't watch. To me..when i watch wrestling and bodybuilding, i want to see freaks.
@deepblue8143 Жыл бұрын
Same. That's what's missing today. And spot on in regards with how he moved, very unique and I can't quite put it into words but it was very different. To this day he's the only person that I've ever seen move like that. It's as if his moves were so powerful that they almost threw him off a bit and even then that description doesn't do it justice. There is no one in wrestling today like him.

Well there’s a difference between use and abuse. Genetics play a big deal in how the body reacts. Glad that barb is still in great health he still wrestles on occasion.

Barbarian seems to get overlooked, outside of being arguably the second real life bad ass in wrestling behind Haku, that is. But man, when he was younger, he was 300 pounds, had a great body, and had cat like quickness. Don't forget his devastating flying headbutt off the top turnbuckle, either!

I don't think I ever remember hearing BArbarian speak. Figures Dusty Rhodes the idiot Tony Khan Booker ran them off with his Scaffold Match Idea? Nobody in their right mind or who knows anything about Wrestling would even think to do that. Anybody who thinks Dusty Rhodes was a good Wrestler or Booker is related to him a fool or both. That Weight Lifting Angle I still remember to this day. Though its interesting the Eye Injury Animal had seems like it was unrelated to that. There has never been a good or decent scaffold match. Especially when you got guys over 300 pounds. I would have never realized he was Sumo Wrestler. Fuji is a character. Though is Tag Champion Partner Toru Tanaka was bigger star Than Rock for Wrestlers. At time I figured he was like Mongolian or something not Samoan or related to Haku or others. Mostly I only knew him as Barbarian mostly in Power of Pain with Warlord. It always bothered me to never have a real conclusion of that angle because of Pillsbury Dough Boi or Virgil hehe. There a reason every company Dusty Rhodes booked for failed along with going bankrupt just like Jimmy Crownette ;).
@deepblue8143 Жыл бұрын
Comparing Dusty to Tony is extremely disrespectful. Dusty has forgotten more about the wrestling industry then tony will ever even know.
@Daoloth Жыл бұрын
@@deepblue8143 Yeah Tony Deserves better than that ;). Dusty is trash his name origin itself too. Guy never had a clue with his stupid crap. I'm old enough to remember what trash Dustry Rhodes booking was. Sabu got shafted by it too. He is garbage utter trash along with all them.
