It was a weird, spine tingling mix of the deep V8 revving and the jet engine spinning up to crazy rpm. I could feel the bass and LFE in my chest and the turbine screeching felt like I was standing right next to a turboprop at startup.

The sound of the engine turning on. This is what made your hair stand on end, this is where you felt it in your chest and gut and thanked the gods you were in an IMAX or DOLBY theater. This was pure, brutal, unadulterated, beautifully edited mayhem and from the moment the engine turns on to the final shot (theatrical version, it's longer and unbroken) of the demon bat chariot coming through the flames like a bat out of hell, it never let go of the jugular.

I was at San Diego Comic Con in 2012 when they had a selection of Batmobiles on the grass behind the convention centre. The guy in charge fired up the tumbler when I was standing behind it and it felt like someone thumped me in the chest with a cricket bat. i got exactly the same feeling with the new Batmobile when I watched the film last week.
