Cadillac is entering the EV space with a BANG. The new LYRIQ has almost superhero-like stylings, a comfortable drive, and a surprisingly accessible price. Will Alex be impressed or is this car too big and heavy to be a sensible daily-driver?

As you perhaps review more larger and heavier electric vehicles, it would be good to give attention to energy efficiency. It seems that everyone only cares about range, and considers an electric vehicle to be environmentally friendly by its electric merit alone. That's gotta change at some point.

EVs rn are only "green" in the marketing material except for the citroen oli, and that's only a concept car Too much nonsense that will only turn into e waste (like the 3000 screens) A joke in repairability hindering their long-term usage, and as you mentioned, the weight
@therodyman700

It's because the "best" ev's right now don't even come close to the range of petrol or diesel cars. Which for city people isn't an issue but for people that travel alot or like me have to somtimes drive 400 - 800 km a day, EV's are not an option. range is a killer for all EV's worry about energy efficiency when EV's can do petrol/diesel ranges and the energy doesn't get created with coal power plants
@Michael-wo6ld
@Michael-wo6ld Жыл бұрын
That's only really a concern if you live somewhere that doesn't use lots of renewable energy. In the PNW we mostly use hydropower, so the energy efficiency of a car is not a huge concern.

Would love for these expensive "products" to be reviewed by at least two people just to get two opinions. I remember some car video (I think on LTT main channel) where Alex was really positive about the car, but then Jake came in with his opinion and gave a different perspective on it and didn't rate everything so positively. Also, I've never truly understood why they would spend so much money on Sat Nav systems, custom apps etc. when someone can just plug in their phone. THANK YOU for measuring the in-car audio system! Savagegeese used to do it but then they stopped. If you're open to constructive criticism though, I'd have two requests. The first one is to not smooth the FR graph so much, 1/3 is way too much. The other is to have a waterfall plot, determining the fidelity of an audio system by looking at graphs is much easier when you can also see the time domain. Great review though, I really enjoyed it!

I don't want to say that it should be all mechanical, but i think (from the looks of how they are moving i did not see it close up and never touched them) this mashy buttons on the outside will not last very long and the failures would be awesome and a full list off. Maybe your door will just open randomly, not open at all or your heated seats will be always on... You know what i mean :D And yes, i think a car should last longer then 20 years, the bigger it is the longer it should last or at least you should get the option to get new tech inside if for example the engines gives up or your seats or what ever. The fact that he describes it as feeling like a V8 tells me GM though about this car a lot then. Probably did a good bit of market research. My daily is an 06 Yukon Denali, and that nice effortless V8 torque in the midrange is one of my favorite things about it.

Electric sucks. Drive a normal car that's as expensive as your dumb EV. It may not be much better when you get inside, but it can drive across town without needing to be charged or overheating, and it won't blow up in 2 years

Wasn't aware taht they were changing platforms on the kona. I guess it's just gonna be an electric kona. And with their current pricing here atm at around 50-60k, I don't think that the ioniq5 or 6 is a worse deal. But you could also look into Kia's versions, they have the EV6, but no ioniq6 counterpart yet.

@@deansmits006 i have no idea how the mustang does, I know however that car doors freeze shut if its cold enough and can require a good solid yank from a 180 pound man to open. The dainty little pop of that electrical opener, does not spark confidence. The problem is that there's nothing to yank on in the back doors, you could get the front open like that, but then what? Crawl to the back and kick the door open?

Attention all car manufacturers. Just because you make an electric car, does not mean you have to go out of your way to re-invent the wheel with everything else. I just want to see a normal car with a good electric powertrain. I don't want these weird, awkward door handles, give me a normal interior with physical buttons, give me a normal glovebox. No one wants any of the manufacturers proprietary infotainment system, just leave it to Google and Apple. TLDR: Take a normal car like a Toyota Rav4 and replace the engine with a big elecrtic motor.

I am just happy, that it seems that most car manufacturer finally got it in their heads, that absolutely NOBODY wants shitty touch screen only buttons that do not work half of the time. Not even the most tech enthusiastic people I know (including me), think that touch only is superior to just having a few nobs and switches.

I’m old fashioned. For as much as I’m amazed at the technology in cars I think touch screen controls is just stupid. It’s next best to impossible to accurately find, and operate, touch controls whilst driving. Give me a lot of proper buttons instead. With proper buttons you can feel, then memorise, buttons functions and locations making far easier to find, and push, whilst on the move. I not a big fan of digital dashboards either, I prefer the “old fashioned” analog dials.

I feel like there needs to be more kickback on the decision to phase out CarPlay and Android Auto. Fundamentally, it is ALWAYS going to be better than having separate systems in the car, unless you can provide some way of activating and controlling mobile apps directly from the car. As it stands, I'm yet to see an infotianment system that will actively let me reference things like my locations (such as saved places in apps or contacts), or activate spotify or other music apps without me physically having to open the phone to get it working.

The tester found the glove box opening via touch screen fairly annoying, yet they opened it in a second or two. And the point of the big bar on the steering wheel is that you see it (in the sense it's so large and takes up a relatively large amount of space ) and cannot miss it. That's a feature, not a problem. And as far as how many Lyrics have been sold, you can't have it both ways. GM sweats the details, which means a slower rollout, yet Tesla doesn't, so you get mediocre build quality and an 'Autopilot' which isn't.
