It's seems clear that the Jedi weren't meant to lead the clone army but could you do a what if video if the jedi where used more like special forces and maybe an intelligence agency. I think they would do good in this role especially with the few good victories they have been more specialised missions And then the reset of the time they may not have been useless on the battle field but if they where treated more like Arc Trooper Fives, where they were more advising the commander, and more of an NCO and just in commanded of their immediate troopers around them during the battle.

Actually, many Jedi had military experience. There were many wars that they served on before the Clone Wars, especially since the Republic before the Clone Wars relied mostly on militia forces. The Jedi won battles for the Republic and kept it together for a thousand years after the last great war with the Sith. So saying that they have no military experience is rather contradictory to SW lore.
@marcbartuschka6372
@marcbartuschka6372 5 жыл бұрын
Well at first it were not alone the Jedi (maybe even not the Jedi the most) who kept the Republic together. And second, I have not the impression as if republican and local forces before the Clonew Wars were led by Jedi an a regular basis. So some Jedi may have some fighting experince. But more against pirates etc. They were surely good men and women to kill some enemies, even if they were outnumbered. But I guess very few had ever led greater groups of soldiers or ships into real full-scale-battles. So they were hardly fit for a General-rank as they got often very quick.

the reason for asoka being assigned to anakin was to teach him responsabilty and to test his abilty to let go of attachment which we all know he could not do and is the main reason he fell it was thought by the jedi council that he needed to learn to let go of them in order to become a true master as yoda says he was ready for an padawan the real test would be could he let the padawan go when the time came for her to take the trials they wanted him to come to understand that the greatest thing a jedi could do was pass on what they had learnt to the new jedi and to look on and watch that new jedi become better than they had ever imagined
@dragonsword7370
@dragonsword7370 5 жыл бұрын
The only way I could fathom the council making anakin "I started the war that will kill thousands of jedi in the order" Skywalker a padawan teacher essentially "A teacher learns when they teach others". If they'd know his past proclivities of having a wife on the side and killing Tuskan raidersand they're tribes women and children they... probably wouldn't have done that. A good alternate history could have been "what if ahsoka tano was trained by Obi-wan "hello there" Kenobi.

Lying and pretending to surrender is most certainly not the Jedi way. On-top of that it's a WAR CRIME. Because of this, no CIS commander will take clone prisoners later in the war. Obi-Wan doomed hundreds of thousands, if not millions of clones from being able to be captured alive.

@@jasonskeans3327 Well it was obvious that the CIS-General did not awaited to be betrayed, which tell us that is normal to respect negotiations, not just to use them to come close enough to your enemy to hold a weapon on his throat. We do not know the laws of the Star Wars galaxy - but it is unlikely that a Republic who has even de-militarized did not respect negotiations and ceasefires. It would just made sense because it is the only way that hostile factions could agree to try to make peace (beside unconditional surrender).

@@raijyn2452 Yes and no. It is deception if you could keep your foces hidden, if you communicate only coded or if you plant false evidence for your foe to discover so that he could find it. To you smalleer attacks to let him think you will attack him HERE while you are massing your troops on another place or you want to hide your withdrawl. It is another thing to ask him for negotiation and than during that hold a weapon on his throat. While doing so, how will the enemy ever be willing to negotiate - or how could you ever think that he will not try a similar trick to you? It is a step towards making the war a fight with no rules at all, which is a dangerous path.

Why the Clone Charge was actually pretty smart, 1) The separatists were at a breaking point, their heavy tanks were destroyed, their medium tanks were getting pounded, and their infantry was stuck under artillery fire with no support. 2) The Clones really didn't know the separatist's had tons of reinforcements and they didn't know the next time they would get reinforced. 3) Obi wan probably thought that a decisive victory could end the siege. So obi wan sees an opening when the droid army is exposed and thinking that if they could finish off those droids, they end the siege, he takes his advantage and basically causes and takes advantage of a rout. If he would have stayed behind cover his the separatist could have gotten away in a more orderly fashion. It was actually quite brilliant.

I'm gonna say point blank I think adding Ashoka to the series as Anakin's Padawan was Sooooo Dumb. It just adds plotholes and inconsistencies to Anakin's character and the Jedi council. I think they should've made her obi-wans Padawan and maybe her and Anakin have a friendship since that would put obi-wan as the father figure with Anakin as an older brother figure which I think is the kind of relationship the series wanted to convey, this way Anakin still would've been attached to Ashoka when she left, they still could've had him be the only one who stands by her when she's accused of treason. This would put Anakin at odds with the council which is what we need set up for revenge of the sith. I think the fact that the Jedi council was already weary of Anakin and already had to be pushed by obi-wan to bend the rules to knight him would be enough of a reason to not give him a Padawan. Think about it you don't have the reckless employee train a new hire. We still could've got the same story with Ashoka as obi-wans Padawan I think that would make a more believable story for adult fans but keeps it fun for kids. Hate me if you think I'm wrong but I stand by that. To shake it up more we could have Anakin kill Ashoka during order 66 and have that push obi-wan to face him in mustafar. On a different note aside from adding some minor plotholes to the story Ashoka is still a better character than rey. At least she's not a Mary sue. I would've wanted to see more with Ashoka and ventress aside from just the treason arc. I think that would've been a fun sub plot for us girls.

Good point. I agree that it was rather unbelievable that Anakin had an apprentice. I liked Ashoka as a character, but your point stands.

You haven't listed any of these plotholes you keep going on about. Also the jedi are kind of known for making stupid personal decisions.

I guess they're more inconsistencies rather than plotholes but the Jedi council trusting Anakin with a Padawan and then mistrusting him in revenge of the sith is not consistent.

How much time passes between this and the Battle of Geonisis? Has enough time passed for Anakin's hair to have grown out from that stupid haircut all the padawans had to wear?

Johnny M Sarrish wasn’t the second battle of the war. In legends it occurred when the Clones already had Phase II armour and I would expect the same is true in canon.
