It's nice to hear someone recognized that Caleb was being asked to do things lightyears away from what the other rookies were doing. And it's dumb trying to compare all these kids. It's apples and elephants.
@305mikemagee16 күн бұрын
The problem is why he was asked to do that. You interviewed 9 OCs and picked the worst won. You have to compare. Trubisky will always be compared to Mahomes. That's the world we live in.

@@jBeats13 I wouldn’t go that far. The 2004 class with Manning, Roethlisberger, and Rivers stands out, combining for four Super Bowl championships. The 2020 class with Burrow, Herbert, and Hurts is also shaping up to be decent too.

@jBeats13 yeah, as a packers fan, gotta admit bears got a qb with a lot of upside. If he would have thrown the ball away to avoid a sack just 15 more times and Poles drafted for the oline instead of receiver they probably would have won 8 or 9 games.

@@jacoblarochelle Unfortunately, quarterbacks are often judged by wins, playoff appearances, and championships, especially compared to their peers, rather than solely on stats like yards or other individual achievements. Many believed the Bears were the best spot for a rookie quarterback because of the talent they had, Odunze, Moore, Kmet, Allen, and Swift, while there were low expectations in Denver and Washington.

Lmao this guy sounds crazy af. He talking like Caleb was just trash. He had 3500 yds 20 tds and 6 ints. Bo had 3700 29 tds with 12 ints with a better oline and a superbowl winning HC/OC. Jayden had 3500 25 tds and 9 ints with a better oline and a coach that would’ve easily won the superbowl if they only ran the ball 2 or 3 more times. Jayden also had 890 rushing but Caleb had 480 himself. You give Caleb Ben Johnson and he’s not only destroying the rookies, he’s destroying a lot of vets too. I think losing that dog might’ve made him lose his mind. Maybe that’s why he failed to mention all the b s that Caleb had to deal with. Or just how great he looked in clutch moments given us the feeling that we were never out of any games. I don’t think buddy knows this but Rookie QBs don’t do that. And he can keep his “advanced numbers” bc we don’t need that b s. Our eyes tell us that Caleb is one of them ones and that’s all we need to know. FOH!!

Guys we will get who we get and will have to work with that. There is NO PERFECT scenario. Look at how bad Harbaugh and Herbert did against the Texans. In the end its up to your players to make plays. CJ Stroud pulled throws out of his ass to eventually put the Texans ahead fo good. As long as we dont get some unproven college coach or coordinator I can live with that. Johnson, Vrabel, Carroll, Flores, Brady.... I'm fine with whomever at this point. We are still stuck with poles talent evals so it might not really matter.....I think hes missed bigger than he's hit. Poles has hurt the Bears development for sure.

I don't hate Pete but look at his most recent coaching years in Seattle, not great. The staff wasn't great at the end, the scheme was stale, they were right to move on. I want the next coach to be here for the next decade, Pete can't be that.

@ Age is definitely a factor if you are looking for someone long term. But history shows Bears coaches do not tend to last long anyway. It is also about the right fit. If the Chiefs had thought that way, they would not have hired Andy Reid, and who knows how things would have turned out. You just never know.

"The McVey tree always works!" Looks over shoulder to OC graveyard of Getsy, Waldron, Thomas Brown, etc. Be real. We run the same system and the results are terrible. So what's different? The truly great coaches know how to instill discipline, put players in a position to succeed, and cut down drastically on mistakes that collectively make a difference.
@benoitwaffle543915 күн бұрын
The head coach is not a playcaller. He is a leader. Eberflus got worse as a head coach when he started running the defense. Operationally, things got worse. The overall discipline and attention to detail (as well as his attention to his HITS principle) was gone throughout the team. Nagy was incapable of speaking about the defense or special teams, because he either wasn't paying attention or interested. There is nothing magical about a playcaller. The bottom of the league is filled with playcalling head coaches (Daboll, Stefanski, Canales, Doug, etc). Shane Steichen can't call a functional offense with Anthony Richardson. Brian Callahan hated Will Levis with heat that hasn't been seen since Thibs was watching Boozer mess up on defense. Why did the Chargers get better? Harbaugh is a good coach. He doesn't call the plays, and there is nothing magical about Greg Roman. Why did the Broncos get better? Payton is a good coach. He might call offensive plays, but 7 of their 10 wins came when the opponent scored 14 or less. The job is more than a calling a play. This isn't Madden.

When you look at the bears hiring history, when have the Bears ever gotten the hot coaching prospect. Never! Not once. They have had chances but either chose not to or the person didn't want to come here. Ben Johnson and Vrabel aren't coming here. You think a guy who hired and then chose to keep a coach like Eberflus can identify and convince a potentially game changing coach to come here. Come on now.
@avidsiman16 күн бұрын
I would hire Mike Martz as OC. Unlike Cutler, Williams would be a great student of Martz, learn a lot, and has the arm and playmaking ability to make it work really well. The current receiving corps is also way better than Knox, Hester, and Bennett. Swift and Johnson are serviceable backs that would fit the offense. The only odd man out would be Kmet. Kmet's a nice guy and a big body, but he demonstrated he's not a quick learner and doesn't have best form.
