@shen81713 жыл бұрын
Same, I used to get this way too. But then I thought to myself, how often do I rewatch those concert videos I took? The answer is literally never. Unless it’s a picture of my mum, someone else I love, or a really special place, I don’t think there’s any need. I can just take one picture then actually enjoy where I am. The more you do that, the brighter the memory will be in your mind- and I think that’s more special than loads of photos at times💗

@@shen8171 Agree! I now started to implement this a lot in my life. Just shoot a 10 second max long vid to remind me about that day or place and then put my phone away and enjoy the moment, only that way would that picture or short vid be a beautiful memory. I'm also trying to save up for a good camera as I'm slowly realizing that capturing these precious moments is more valuable than I thought. I'm doing it not just for me, but for the future generations!
@oatmeal7893 жыл бұрын
I use to be like that. But taking pictures and capturing every moment of my life just added burden on my mind. It made super attached to them and sad that those moments are gone. “Less is more” is truly a life changing word. Now I’d rather be fully present in those moments and keep them in my memories. Now that I don’t try to hold on to every aspect of my life my mind is more cleaner and at peace.

That forms part of that social media culture you spoke of, the 'is my stuff good enough to share/say' feeling because we are comparing constantly. Whoa! It’s been a strange year going from a flip phone a few years back to making videos, and I can say I have enriched my life in many ways through this + realized how important it is to keep a balance when it comes to social media. When I started making videos I felt like I was nurturing my inner child, taking great joy in finding beautiful ways to showcase everyday objects and activities through the lens of a camera. I shared what I was excited and passionate about, because it was one of the best ways to keep me feeling positive and happy last year. This was a challenge to maintain once my channel started to grow. I felt a lot of pressure to share more and more details about my personal life and relationships (the good, bad, and ugly). Sharing these things seems to be associated with being authentic online, but I do not believe that is necessarily true, and can deter more shy or introverted people from opening up or sharing their art. I believe you do not need to share intimate details that would feel invasive to your privacy, especially when it isn’t relevant to what you are creating. Instead, through my words I like to communicate my heartfelt thoughts and trials of daily reality. But when it comes to imagery, I wish to capture everyday beauty - and that passion for art is the most genuine and authentic thing that I can offer other people ❤️ My definition of authenticity will always be: sharing from your heart and celebrating things you love, while respecting your own personal boundaries. These videos are short films, exploring art and imagination and ideas. And that is why it brings me joy to share them with you, and connect through reading your stories and thoughts. I value that more than any other part of this channel. Thank you again and again for your comments. I am unable to answer my dm’s on IG so please comment below and I will respond if I am able. My name is Paola, I am Puerto Rican American, and I am 24 years old.

We lost touch after we went to college. I guess he still couldn't find happiness after college while I ended up getting married. He decided to end his life. I too had difficulties but could not understand his choice. Now, almost 50 years later, I still think of the experiences he missed out on having. My life has drastically changed maybe 5 times in all these years and I am a totally different man now than when I was younger. Be patient with yourself. If you are draw to this channel and Paola's story it is because life touches you and you are more alive than most, so you feel more. Be patient and kind to yourself. I totally agree, with only the caveat that I was always a hobby photographer anyway, even back when film was so expensive for me that I couldn't ever take as many pics as I wanted to! Hence I've always liked perusing various accounts on Instagram and posting pretty photos of my own now and then, little anonymous memories of moments in my world. But funny thing is, back in the day if Instagram had been, say, a magazine to which people would submit their amateur photographs, well, the pleasure would've been much the same! The fast-paced, hyperactive and overly complicated milieu of Facebook was actively damaging and alienating. I've begun calling people on the phone again (and sending emails and letters) and though I've gotten some bemused reactions, for the most part people seem to really like it. :-)

I appreciate your admission of your emotional ups and downs. It’s too easy to compare our everyday messy lives to someone’s beautifully curated life online. What you present is your growing understanding and appreciation for your perfectly normal emotional highs and lows. I now see emotional ups and downs as an emotional “heartbeat”; we wouldn’t want it to be constantly too low or too high. I think you’re doing a wonderful job of expressing this. You’re doing good work and making people smile. 🙏🏽👏🏽

Emily, decades ago I stopped reading newspapers, reading magazines, watching any news whatsoever, etc. The trade off of maybe one good uplifting story wasn’t worth all the other horrific images and horrific stories. Even when I go on my email I have all these cut out cardboards that I place all over the laptop screen first so I don’t get inundated with all the negativity and horrific images they purposely put on there for all of us to see. I do love the aesthetic, but at the same time when I see these "cottagecore" version of being outdoorsy and down to earth I feel a different pressure from the glamour of the city, like it has to be perfect and pure. That everything is polarized and I get what you mean about yearning for city life in the country and vice versa. For me this is why I am moving to a small town with lots of nature. Small enough to have "country" aspects, but big enough to have community, friends, things to do.
@ruok-l5t2 жыл бұрын
Believe me, she knew exactly what she was doing when she moved to the country. It's less about yearning for the simple life, but more about the creating an online persona to earn a living. Straight up business. Like if I'm a photographer and I want my content to be dark and urban, sure as hell Im not gonna keep on living in a sunny place with lots of palm trees. I'd move elsewhere.

@@ruok-l5t I don't think it's a bad thing at all, as long as she feels suitable of living that way. Life isn't easy anyway, so create a social media persona that vividly represents yourself would also take efforts. She also stated that she wants this channel to be about happy and thoughtful days of hers, not daily struggles (like the majority of people out there who uses social media). Key point here is that she dared to live her life, while finding ways to sustain it, and I do find it's inspiring, whether it's business or not
@tme98 Жыл бұрын
@@duyhiep0808 Well, she says the problem with social media is people end up feeling inadequancy. If she only portrays the "nice" "perfect" ambience of her setting, she is actually contributing to it.
