Garlic, apart from being very tasty, is also beneficial for our health. A lot of research has been done to study the benefits that garlic offers to our health and most of the time we have seen a significant benefit. I tend to think that what we haven't seen yet that is useful is because we haven't looked for it properly yet. I find garlic helps everywhere. But today we will only say what science has proven beyond any doubt that garlic has something very important to offer.
Heart protection. Heart disease remains the most common disease and the most common cause of death in the Western world. Anything that helps the heart is sure to reduce the risk of premature death. Regular consumption of garlic and garlic supplements has been shown in over thousands of studies to help heart and blood vessel health by improving the condition of many diseases and conditions that increase the likelihood of someone having a heart problem. For for example, we know that garlic supplements and regular consumption of garlic reduce the chance of developing atherosclerotic plaque in the heart vessels, lower blood lipids, reduce the chance of blood clotting, and finally lower blood pressure and blood sugar. So it's not surprising that something that reduces major heart risk factors would have the effect of protecting the heart.
Cancer protection. I have said in a previous video that onion family plants are among the most anti-cancer plants. Among the plants of the onion family is garlic. Garlic contains many substances that have been isolated and proven to have anti-cancer properties, especially those that are rich in sulfur. Frequent consumption of garlic significantly reduces the risk of cancer, at least for gastrointestinal cancers such as stomach, colon, esophagus and pancreatic cancer. Strong protection against breast cancer, both first-onset and recurrence, has also been documented.
Hypertension protection. I'm sure many of you have heard of people eating garlic and feeling lethargic. In these cases, the ability of garlic to reduce pressure is confirmed. The long-term consumption of garlic protects against hypertension because garlic has an effect corresponding to antihypertensive drugs. In other words, eating garlic every day is like taking antihypertensive medicine. It is enough to start "anti-hypertensive" treatment early in your life.
Protection against infections. Garlic is well known for the protection it offers against infections. Among the many beneficial substances it offers to the body, several have antimicrobial activity and prevent infections.
Protection against neurodegenerative diseases. Luckily for us, garlic also has a protective effect on nerves and the central nervous system. Many of the substances contained in garlic and garlic supplements have been shown in studies to protect against the degeneration of the nervous system.
Protection against diabetes. Many studies have repeatedly proven that garlic offers substances to the body that allow it to better manage glucose and, in general, the carbohydrates in our diet. This results in a reduced chance of developing diabetes.
Hypolipidemic action. Garlic is one of the best ways to lower cholesterol and triglycerides in our blood, because not only does it have no side effects like drugs, but it also has some additional health benefits. For example, statins, i.e. cholesterol drugs, while they are very effective in lowering cholesterol, increase blood sugar and the possibility of developing diabetes. In contrast, garlic supplements and garlic in the diet lower cholesterol, but at the same time reduce the likelihood of developing diabetes. In addition, it has all these benefits that we said earlier.
These are the most important benefits of garlic, but they are certainly not the only ones. As I told you earlier, garlic has a lot to offer to our health and that is why it is good to include it in your diet, or as a food supplement.
