Great information and explanation. I found quarter turn hooks a few years ago, worked great for blue gill and they wouldn't swallow it, but can't find them anymore.

Interesting. I’ll have to check into those.

“Tru turn” hooks maybe? Hard to find but have used them for years

Awesome presentation and excellent info, one quick question , you have excellent information in which hook to use for type of fishing, however what size hooks? seem to work best that seems to be the confusing part, Thanks again always looking forward to new videos.

Thanks! I didn’t really have time to get into sizes in this video but as a general rule, I use the smallest hooks I think I can get away with without compromising the hook gap after hooking the bait. Smaller hooks generally penetrate easier and hamper the baits action less, so I usually err on the small side.

Can you tell me why the hook eye is turned towards the hook point for baitholder hooks? Seems most hooks it is turned outward or is straight. Seems like that would be worse for hook ups

i would have omitted treble hook and put live bait jigs in the list but great content.

I have some other videos just on jigs. Thanks!

What hook size do you use for each hook you showed?
@calebwistad2 ай бұрын
That depends on the size of the bait and what species I’m after. The most important part is the size of the bait. You want a hook that’s not too big to hinder the bait from swimming naturally but big enough that it has some exposed hook and open gap to hook the fish.
