Do the same test at different price points. So pick a $100 knife next (like a Ferrum Forge Stinger), then do a $200 knife (like a Benchmade Bugout). Would be great to see if the extra money is truly worth it when it comes to build integrity.

I think the more expensive the knife the less it holds up to the torture tests (more chips in blade because harder edge), but day to day more expensive does better as far as edge retention of course

@OnEst_Opinion

You do have to admit that most the products you review or suggest on pretty much every video outside these “purposely cheap” videos tent to be on the expensive end for anyone that would ACTUALLY daily use the products. Not saying you don’t use them for the same practical uses (opening letters or boxes, cutting some tape, cutting zip ties or ropes, or cutting any item that’s relatively soft like when I’m an idiot and light the wrong end of a cig so I slice off the burnt part of a filter) but doing a test like cutting cardboard 100 times is such a bare minimum to consider it a test on “daily use” yeah, that person may cut open a box then break it down but that’s ONE task out of the 5-10 task thru the day. Construction work would be sharpening their pencil, cutting plastic wrap off a new product, scraping the dirt out a finger nail because you’re bored, just completely random task on a job site. I worked for a distributor for Kraft/Heinz where we were a warehouse that received products like Capri-Sun or Kool-Aid Jammer pouches. They came in boxes that were sets of four wrapped in plastic then 96/128 of those were stacked on a pallet that got wrapped in saran wrap. It would be about 2-3 layers of that wrap and often, I’d say upwards of 20-30 all the way to 80-100 times, have to either slice a sliver to insert some paperwork, cut the wrap completely off, or cut it slightly to make a repair to that pallet. I loved my knives to be decently sharp so I could use the back of my plastic clipboard to cut sections of paperwork off instead of having to go get scissors or do the “bend the paper 47 times to tear it cleanly” method, just have a sharp knife and slice away. My knife would often get used as a pryer but never in an absurd manner. I’ve bent up enough knives, cheap and expensive, to know generally what’s safe for a blade. I used knives as cheap as $20 and expensive meaning up in the $350 range. One of the main reasons that you seem to over look when telling someone a certain $385 blade or $250 blade, even a $150 blade, is a decent daily is the cost of losing it. Anyone who’s in these fields you often reference then attempt to recreate task of theirs for your test, the one task you cannot recreate is losing the damn thing. More than half those blades I used in the distro job was them getting lost. Whether that was someone stealing it somehow, me dropping, it’s clip loosening so it just falls out the pocket while riding round on the forklift, or me squeezing between pallets while in a trailer and the plastic grabs it, the prob infinite ways to lose it if it’s a true daily and your job is physically demanding in the sense of tons of moving with small spaces and a loud environment so you don’t hear the drip, it’s inevitable. So while your test are ok in a sense, they barely skim the surface of those fields of work you reference, your test are 100% not thorough enough, and you’re forgetting the biggest factor in buying the things which is the cost of losing them. Civivi knives honestly ended up being the best brand that made great blades at a very affordable price. I actually had a few of their blades, two nicer ones with one being bigger than the other, then I ran a handful of their smaller blades as the daily. Favorite being one you had in a video I believe of just great smaller knives. Blade was coated in black, had black pieces on the handle, and was $40 off Amazon. Clip stayed nice and tight, blade was hella easy to sharpen and stayed sharp longer than some of my $200+ blades, but all in all the best knife ended up being a flipper utility blade for the obvious reason. Cheap knives in general, replaceable blades, higher quality blades def lasted longer and stayed sharp longer, and generally they were hella small knives overall, Gerber’s EAB Lite being the best for my job.

The Lander did VERY well! You put it through more torture than most knives would regularly be subjected to in most cases. I love my Lander and the fact that imagination is really just about the only thing limiting scale options for it. The Worksharp tools performed as expected. I’ve never seen the Ken Onion in action on a knife that small, and it looked to still be very user friendly, even at that blade size. For upcoming tests… EDC Flashlight torture test. Mud, water submersion, sand, extreme cold (maybe freeze in a block of ice), measure real world lumens etc.. This was a fun one, Taylor and Rikki! See you bros at Blade West!

I really like Work Sharp products! Field sharpener was my only sharpening system for a very long time, and I was able to put a really nice edge without using anything else. When it comes to the video - abuse tests are very popular form on YT, but people usually choose the toughest knives and locking mechanism and they just try to break it. It's really nice to see a simple, budget liner lock tested in your videos. With these tests people mostly focus on durability and toughness of a particular knife or lock. I think there are a lof of other interesting tests that can be made: - pocket clips - the comparison of different solutions - how easy it is to get it out of your pocket and put it back. Is it easy to lose your knife. Which pocket clips look best - slip joints - I think they've recently become popular again, but I think people sometimes don't treat these knives seriously. It would be nice to see a video putting them to more serious tests and showing how they behave in certain situations, how to work with them and whether a certain type of work is safe or not. - disassembly of different knives - maintenance is a part of carrying and using a knife. It would be interesting to see a video comparing the ease or difficulty of disassembly of different knives. Which knives are easy to maintain? What can be a problem during disassembly? Maybe you can organize "disassembly competition", measuring time it takes to disassemble and reassemble different knives. - testing different blade profiles and blade grinds and comparing how well they work in different situations, what are their strong and weak points - testing and comparing how various handle materials behave in different conditions, how tough and durable they are - you can also abuse some Rockstead knife, that will definitely get you some views 😁 These are just some random ideas, but it would be really interesting to see these kinds of tests as well.

I HAVE A FLASHLIGHT FOR YOU! CHEAPEST FLASHLIGHT THAT HAS MORE LEGIT USABLE FEATURES THAN ANY $100+ LIGHT YOU GOT!! NOT ONLY WAS IT (alright done with the caps, hopefully caught your attention lol) $20 at Walmart but was a no name brand I’d never heard of and it brighter than a NEBO 1500 Lumen headlamp and a Costa 750 lumen. The light is called the Kodiak Kub. Size wise it’s seriously no bigger than your thumb, rechargeable, clip so it can latch onto a hat, has a lock built in so you don’t accidentally click it on, AND found out randomly last night the dang thing’s butt end is magnetic! Tell me a 1000 lumen rechargeable mini flashlight that has ALL THOSE FEATURES for $20. I’m a gadget guy, night time cig smoker, plus enjoy walking my dog when the sun starts going down. My NEBO headlamp was bright but sprayed the beam every freaking where (had cars driving by high beam me 🤦🏻‍♂️), battery was trash, and the elastic around your skull would CONSTANTLY loosen. Switched to a handheld and god forbid you have a leash in one hand, phone in the other, and attempt to use a flashlight effectively. I legit would tighten my hat to shove it up in there to have a beam aimed at my feet as it was better than nothing. This $20 solution does not only what those two lights did COMBINED but did them better and does more! Feel like it’s a solution that I’ve been searching for going on over a decade now 🤣😂 anyhow, review it!! I genuinely think you’re gonna be beyond impressed just like me!

I haven’t gone quite that far, but I have put my poor Pilar through quite a bit: wires, drywall, rope, prying out nails (with the spine not the edge), pruning bushes, Cardboard, unscrewing screws (do not recommend). It’s been dropped, stepped on and went through the wash…it’s a great little knife. Granted, it needs sharpened more often, but that’s part of the fun. :) I don’t think I could put mine through everything you did, but I’m still impressed with it.

I'd say what you did represents about 3 months of daily use, especially the HI/ Landscaping segment. Oddly, where I landed was the WE SNECX Mini Buster which stayed in my pocket for over a year needing only mild sharpening once a week, even after breaking some of the tip off. Please test something a little different than the standard Benchmade or Spyderco, as not all of us subscribe to the mainstream standards. Thanks..

$50 is a great price point. Enough money to get a quality tool that you care about but not enough money you stress about or baby. Good to see work done with a dull blade, sharp is always better but not the reality for most people. If you are staying in the light use tasks, it’s nice to see how little maintenance it takes to keep a workable edge.
