from my experience, the only TRUE counter in the vanilla roster is Eo, and that is because it can pretty comfortably facetank your tail attacks and deal pretty considerable damage back, not to mention sharpened horns + a charge, which is DEVASTATING to Amarga and is extremely difficult to interrupt with knockback due to the animation dragging the tail closer to the ground and thus closer to *you.* the large theropods will give you some serious trouble, however *extremely* careful plays can slowly wear them down faster than they wear you down. Stomps should be reserved solely for when the other player is on death scars and could reasonably be killed either with one stomp or a stomp and a quick headbutt. You will likely not be at very high health at this point and getting reckless will kill you. *I believe the knockback species is actually great for dealing with apexes in particular,* because many of them have abilities that reduce knockback taken. And even if they do not, being able to put as much distance between you and the other player as possible gives you a huge edge, you'll be able to prepare yourself better for incoming attacks and regen some stamina. I have little experience with the armor species, but I imagine it would be weaker than usual to raptors due to the lack of reflective damage. Also be aware that **Adult Achillos cannot pounce amarga!** I see them try constantly, but amarga is actually considered too small for Achillo to latch onto. Don't get baited into a stomp! Or, use this knowledge to your advantage to bait an achillo into jumping into a stomp :) PT's Giganotosaurus is pretty nasty, without sturdy it can knock you around very easily and mitigate damage w/ bulldoze ,*WHILE* doing a lot of damage. It's also a little bulkier than the typical apex theropod and has access to a strong charge if it didn't have enough tools for hunting amarga already. Overall, knockback and AoE attacks helped amarga IMMENSELY. I still think it need more build variety and abilities you can swap out to your preference, but it's in a pretty good spot right now. They shouldn't be underestimated, *especially* their stomps. I always recommend keeping a friend close by when playing PoT, but amarga greatly benefits from another dinosaur that can distract or shake off strong counters like Eo.

Agree with most of your points, I still don't see much point to the kb subspecies because generally taking less damage or dealing lots of bleed damage is gonna be more useful than knocking people a bit further with your tail. Helps against counters with KB resistance abilities, though it doesn't help you against opposing Sturdy, and you'd generally prefer Lone Survivor unless you're in a pack or fighting knockback spam dinos (Carno, Pachy, Amarg, etc.)

@@citrusthepenguin Really, it comes down to comfort and very particular dinosaur matchups. Out of the vanilla roster you’re not likely to care too much for KB species unless you prefer consistent relatively-safe damage whittling down smaller dinosaurs and generally being a menace to anything smaller than an allo. Otherwise, I 100% agree that attack or defense are probably better options just coz they enhance one of two of amarga’s better traits. I’d honestly like if sturdy was more like ano’s ability, to heal off BB slightly quicker and possibly have just a knockback resistance rather than immunity. Sturdy has so little relevance outside of… pretty much just pycno’s matchup in the vanilla roster, and potentially other amargas. Hatz is able to throw you around but will take more damage than it deals if it hits the right body part. Everything else is so small that the KB isn’t too bad to manage. They’re sooner gonna put themselves in stomping range before they do anything meaningful lol.

Amarga went from shit to being able to run from any mid tier or apex in the game except dasp or rex (if they ambush) just cause of the tail knockback it got. The fact that it can also fight any dino in the game almost makes it so good now

@@Master-Wanderer Amargasaurus doesn't have the most ability to choose from, but you can change your sense and your subspecies, which I helped Gunn with a lot. I also helped with the counters section, which is why Eo is there.

Can confirm as an Amarg player that you’re not going to be out there solo’ing apex’s, you will be chewed up and spit back out if you try anything other than using the tail knockback to run for your life. Can absolutely hang with and even smack around the other mid tiers though 👍👍

As far as I know I think they’ve removed Lone Survivor’s mobility bonus in the last update (you know how it was centred around removing or nerfing mobility passives? Yeah) Additionally I’ve found Sturdy is very specifically useful in that, when you have it, you can now trade stomps with Pycno’s charges, which is genuinely amazing, as I’ve found Pycno is one of Amarg’s biggest counters in the mid tier range, if you don’t have Sturdy.

Amarg is definitely holding its own way better with the knockback, I was having fun before strolling around, helping babies and defending them, and now amargs are more spicy. It’s especially nice for the little amargs, spicy baby amargs are cute 😌

Amarga is my main dino and I took on 3 pycnos multiple times in a row on a deathmatch server. To be fair 2 of them weren't so good, they kept getting stuck on me or rocks but the 3rd was very good.

If ur staying on a rock, at the cliffs or if a hatze stands at the shore and ur swimming and he will knock u back with his whirlwind attack and falling or drowning etc. Then u will not miss sturdy. Lone survivor is not that good after patch

Sturdy is way better than u think....play against pycs and u will love this perk.. . The sucho is not good at the beginning. Just one claw with claw barrage. That doesnt deal damage. Love my amarga, too and i wish he was a bit faster overall hes amazing. Have an armor build since he was out. Well done nvGunn...ur choosing wisely😊

defense and attack subspecies are imp overrated on amarga, knockback is it's strongest suite so why not build on it with an extra 25% knockback and yeet everything off the map? the only thing i really fear on amarg is a solid dasp/rex player, everything else gets yeeted amd are either too slow or have to bad stamina to keep up with a running amarg

Most people are just terrible at useing the stomp I use it a lot and I’m rather successful in my fights. I saw in one of your videos (I think it was ‘is the pot rex still good’ or something like that) that you said you don’t like how everyone goes to IC GP and I COMPLETELY agree nobody plays the game and instead goes there it takes the realism out of the game.
