Monsteras ik kaprīzas dāmas, nāk no tropiem, lai izdodas ieradināt! Par tēmu, tolerēt nelietoju, gan jau, ka neesmu situācijās, kurās man būtu interese vai vajadzība kādu paciest un pieciest, vai kaut vai būt iecietīgai. Sāļā vira gan jau, ka neiedzīvosies, soļanka tomēr pārāk ilgi bijusi ēdienkartē.

I like the word toleret. It seems more descriptive than the archaic words. Languages need to strike a balance between evolving and preserving the original words and meanings. I think the Latvian and Lithuanian languages, as the most similar to proto Indo-European, should above all others, be preserved. The language and the culture which is closely associated with nature is what draws me to Latvia. Btw Anete, your glasses are kick ass!❤ Couldn’t find any larger ones? Ha ha.

You see, the word tolerate is one word, that is used to describe many different levels of acceptance / survival of pain, suffering, measurements or faults. Everyone has their own tolerance level and everything has it's own acceptable tolerance. So, the beauty of being able to use more than one word to describe these different levels is irreplaceable. In proper English- formal or royal- there are also many different words that can be used instead of tolerate. It's the beauty of any language. As complex and intelligent creatures on this planet, we need to keep our brain sharp by using many different words to describe the many levels of emotions we are going through- one word will not do.

It’s so amazing how being a native speaker of Russian you can guess at the meaning of quite a lot of Latvian words, even though Russian and Latvian belong to absolutely different language groups. Nearly all of the old words you mentioned, like ‘peace’, ‘to carry’, ‘to pull’, ‘brew’ sound quite unfamiliar when you hear them for the first time, but then you pick the Russian analogue and once you know the meaning they sound just sooo similar 😅 Sveicieni no Maskavas!

I would be dead before I could learn declensions and nomatives. I will speak like a child in two word sentences! And, Latvians will have to toleret, or suffer, whichever!

Varbūt atbilstošāka versija pAciest būtu pIEciest? It kā jau viens un tas pats, tomēr, šķiet, parasti lietojama nosacīti atšķirīgos gadījumos. :)
