In honor of her, I present my "Mind Yoga" conspiracy theory of the day: I believe the one that she's actually a liberal double agent sent to destroy the GOP from within. She was a hardcore lefty until somewhere around like 2014 and she realized her political career was going nowhere since she's not qualified for anything, and ever since, all of her COVID misinformation has killed off more hateful old Southern racists than the entire Union Army could have ever hoped to (that's pretty literally true, by the way. The most widely accepted number of Confederate Army casualties is something like 258,000; at COVID's 4,000-a-day peak, it could clear that in a little over two months.)

So I only started watching PSA this year (I know, I know) and didn't know about Lovett's 2023 new year's resolution to *start* more books and I absolutely adore this idea. Start something if you have any interest and don't feel guilty if you drop it for something else before finishing -- that's brilliant! I have at least 3 or 4 books waiting in my digital library holds (I repeatedly delay borrowing them) or on Audible that I put off starting because I think I will then have to read the whole thing. Now I can feel free to start, knowing I don't have to finish. Prequel and Enough may be the first 2 on my list though Lovett got me interested in reading the first part of Rise and Kill. Would be nice for this old Jewish lady to read about a time when Mossad and Israel were doing something I could admire.

Merry Holidays. Thank you for all you do for our Democracy. I'm glad you are doing some political ads. I think a younger demographic will relate to you, along with the rest of us, of course!
@tanja04119 ай бұрын
I’m sounding like a broken record but I think if they and all the liberal great/fun/non-politician-sounding communicators don’t start going on all the really popular male comedian/influencer podcasts (who also used to be liberal or are at least independent and have huge young and diverse listenership) podcasts soon Dems will be in bigger trouble then they thought. Hillary Clinton stayed in her bubble and failed to read the mood of the country and used old-school campaign tactics (of course in addition to all the terrible things the right-wing and Comey did). It seems like it’s the same thing all over again 😣 Vivek, RFK are going on those shows and are somehow managing to sound way more normal than they do on the debate stage and in certain interviews, which is very dangerous. Liberals need to rebut the woke/cancellation talking points and shift the discussion. Discuss NEW ideas with younger generation but also all of us. Discuss why blowing it all up is dangerous and how big reforms like the Affordable Care Act are a better way to go. And instead of getting outraged by Trump and his trolls, how about just telling them to shut up and briefly make fun of them and get back to talking specifics. And maybe move to middle just a tad more when it comes to gender identity and some of the culture war topics. Not abortion (of course!) but some of the trans and gender fluidity issues (highlighting freedom for parents to discuss with their kids and doctors) because I do feel like there is genuine fear around that. I’ve heard even from liberal parents that kids are discussing gender issues at a very young age now and they’re a little freaked out. I feel like that genuine (not hateful or ignorant) fear should be acknowledged and respected. Maybe go for the important wins like safety for all groups for now and then tackle the other issues later? Sorry!! but I listen to a variety of podcasts (of course this is my fave! and I can’t/don’t listen to right-wing) and unless Biden really turns the perception around it’s going to be bad. The groups we need are turning to the other side because Dems aren’t leading. They’re governing well but there’s nobody who is coalescing people around new/big ideas. No one inspiring and can connect to people emotionally on a big scale (Biden can 1:1 I know but he’s lost the general audience even if it is unfair). And Kamala doesn’t connect with them (or me) either. As much as I respect her, her comm style can be very off-putting and not every smart and accomplished person can be president. I wish that were another topic Dems would address. What qualities do we need in a president and why can’t another high-level position like Secretary of State or Artoeney General be just as good. Wonky people and brilliant people aren’t always best for that role. Maybe I can (should have) table(d) this for 2024? 😅 I guess this was me in the spirit of reflection and intention-setting for next year… 🙌 Happy holidays!

There's a video of him just.. red-faced, scream-laughing and holding up a Barbie with its head replaced by the bottom half of a Barbie table. The table was kinda conically shaped, and he's laying curled on the floor, clutching his abdomen and shrieking, 'Barbie has a nuclear reactor for a head!' while I watch sadly from the corner. I whisper, 'Daddy. Please play nice' -- a phrase that would become an ever-repeated daily refrain for bebe me, btw -- and he then just disintegrates into peals of truly hysterical laughter while I sadly walk away, Charlie Brown-style. /sigh🙃 He's a goof
