I don't use a "BFS" casting reel, but do most of my best work with ultralight rods and 1000 size spinning reels. My go to lures are the smallest Rapala ultralight minnows and countdowns, Gibbs Croc's, 3/4 inch Len Thompson spoons, Blue Fox spinners and Rooster tails.

Same I also use a spinning finesse set up about 70 % of the time. It works just as well.

Great video. I just purchased some of the LC pointer 48, 65, and 78, in some shad and bluegill patterns, and a Staycee 60sp in black and gold for this year. These are my first Jerk baits. I also have some of the Zman micro TRDs and Ticklers. I paint my own micro square bills, and other small blanks , which have caught a bunch of bass, bluegill, and crappie last year.

Take it from an old fly fisherman who's trying to learn bass fishing. That plastic bait you displayed with the package of hellgrammite baits is a dragonfly larva. Both will bite your hand if catch 1 from the rocks on the stream bottom. Thanks for the baitcaster reel tests. Wish I'd found your YT channel before I bought a Tatula 100 on sale for $120 from Bass Pro.

the aquatic insect lure you are using is a very super sized copy of a dragonfly larvae. their general description is as follows. "Easily distinguishable from the nymphs of daintier insects, dragonfly nymphs have flattened bodies and six long, tightly bunched, spider-like legs that protrude from the upper region of the thorax. Large compound, bulbous eyes dominate the relatively small head, from which two small antennae protrude." they are fierce predators. there are two types and your bait represents the long abdomen group. one last interesting fact is that they are butt breathers. i am a big fan of you and your channel. keep up the great workk. - eric

Zman TRD bugz 2.75”with 1/10th finesse jig head. Discovered this when smaller fish where hitting my crawfish lure. Changed to finesse TRD bugz and still catching up to 14” bass.

Just starting video so might be mentioned. Googan micro cranks work great. Especially if u don't have an ultralight rod yet. Can cast great on light or medium-light rods due to being 1/8 oz. Great for creek fishing and river smallies here in indiana. Bit to heavy for ultralight rod. Get that rod might snap on a hard cast feeling. Ultralight rod I like the micro eurotackle zviber and yozuri snap beans 1/16 oz Soft plastic Texas rigged. I use zman trd craw in molting craw color with 1/16 tungsten and micro rattle shoved inside. And lunker city hellgie 3" with 1/16 tungsten. With a micro fly rattle shoced inside.Both can be cast on ultralight, light, and med-light rods due to the plastic and hook adding weight to the 1/16 oz tungsten.

Can't beat a trout magnet or crappie magnet for panfish and bass IMO, just have to have the right set up the cast them

That bug is a stone fly. I have been using zoom finesse worms for years stream fishing I will have to get some of those Jackal flick shake they look good. The thing I liked about the zoom is cheap and sold at walmart so every where.

My most successful lure was bfs texas rig: 1/8oz worm weight size 1 or 2 EWG offset hook black & blue trd crawz Fished it by slow dragging on the bottom or mini double hops.

Mule fishing makes some great bfs jig heads, and plastics. Try it out. I've caught a bunch of fish on them, and even caught my PB bass (4.6 lbs) here in Colorado.

Hello, great video; I have a question: is it necessary to always stop the spool with your finger when the lure falls into the water on BFS reels?
@THEREELTEST4 ай бұрын
If you have your spool tension set the best way for bfs which is "loose" then you probably will have to stop the spool with your thumb, especially on faster reels.

What's your favorite BFS setup? Like if I wanted to try 1 rod and reel that could do soft baits or hard baits well. In the $500 price range.

Easy shiner is a great lure, works great for pike yellow perch and seabass. Knockoffs work just as good, e.g. daiwa d fin or even cheapest of aliexpress saltless models. Flick shake is an amazing bait, first time I used one a four pound seabass grabbed it straight away. Not sure about the pointer, finicky fish like sea run brown trout won't touch them, rapala x rap 6 is a far better bait but you have to remove thst stupid rear feather, x rap cd works great too in faster water. Spearhead ryuki 60s is another better bait, even aliexpress duo knockoffs work better than pointer fir everything from sea run brown trout right through to lunker perch.
@THEREELTEST2 жыл бұрын
I never had much luck with Rapala jerkbaits. Most Keitech knockoffs smell like nasty chemicals and if I can smell it I know the fish can probably smell and taste it

Never understood bfs get yourself a good light spinning set up, there’s no way the drag is as smooth on those bfs set ups as spinning gear and much more expensive
