This just came out of the oven. Once again, the corn starch technique worked so well. Genius how glaze like the filling became. The lemon boosted the tartness of the cherry while the sugar carried the sweetness. The almond extract was a great touch. I added 1/2 teaspoon of spiced rum to enhance the almond. I tasted the filling before the pie went in. Perfection. I've been baking Preppy Kitchen pie recipes for 4 years now for Thanksgiving. Never disappoints.

OMG!! Ok so first off, I don’t even personally like pie, and i have never made a pie in my life. My boyfriend loves pie so i usually buy store-bought cherry pie for his birthday. I thought this year I’d make him one from scratch and I followed your recipe for the cherry pie and crust. I tasted the filling after I cut him a slice and had to grab a piece for myself. This pie was INCREDIBLE, looked and tasted perfect, I wish I could comment a picture. Your recipe instructions and video were very helpful and clear, and I can’t wait to try some of your other recipes. thank you so much!!!

I recently moved to Door county Wisconsin and they’re famous for their cherry orchards. I picked a full bucket and since I’ve never made a pie before, I chose this recipe to make my first pie. Let me tell you… I have never gotten as many compliments as I have with ANYTHING in my life so I believe you when you say “the best” because it’s raved about. Also, I’m not a good baker so take your time with each step because it really pays off. Don’t let someone tell you it’s too advanced because it’s simple but just need a little patience and love with this one. Thank you for the recipe! ❤

I'm making this for my son's birthday today. I'm using a disposable pie dish. You didn't specify the baking time. I'm using frozen cherries since they're out of season. The bag says they're sweet black cherries so hopefully it's Good enough. I'm about to cook the filling. Could it be used as jelly as well?? I might want to keep some jarred. Love you and thank you!! Update: it tasted amazing. The bottom didn't get soggy and the filling wasn't runny. I doubled the crust amount and I'm making pineapple hand pies next. Love you!!

Hi John, I love your videos! I have been married since I was 16 (54th anniversary soon).I've never been a good cook, but managed to make meals for my hubby and our 2 kids and kept them healthy but I retired from my kitchen when the kids were out on their own. Cooking was never my thing, just a dreaded chore. Recently, I've begun watching KZbin recipe videos that have enticed me into making a few things. Even more shocking is , I've not messed up! The first thing I made was a big pot of boiled cabbage that was delicious. Compliments on my cooking are as rare as UFOs, but my husband bragged on my cabbage!! Next, I'm going to make your apple cobbler. If it's half as successful as my cabbage, let the compliments begin! I hope you can help me on this new venture in the kitchen, I will share my praises with you! First off, plz tell me the name/brand of the big, sharp, easy cutting knife you use to slice/cut apples, potatoes, onions etc. I have never owned a good knife, mine are more like little saws, slicing a tomato is a big juicy mess, a lot of work to slice anything, especially a carrot. If this cooking kick continues, I hope to someday have an entire drawer full of handy cooking gadgets and a good knife! My sister, a fabulous cook, has always told me the reason I've never been good at cooking is because 'my heart isn't in it' . She's right but I can actually feel my heart beginning to stir as I'm planning to make your apple cobbler. Wish me luck!

well, maybe a alte response, may it help you: generally the thing that matters is not the quality of the knife but how you sharpen it...yes, knifes don"t come sharpened or stay sharp, you have to make them sharp and in fact it is easy (a bit boring at first), all my knifes are third brand or generic, yet when i get teh stone and work on them...well they can cut tomattoes like it is easy, sometimes even chicken bones are cut whit ease (of course it takes from the edge). Point is: when you learn to work your knifes, it is easy, they stay sharp a lot and you just need to rework them sometiems, but you don"t need fancy overpriced knifes because even them will lose their edge over time (eternally sharp knifes don"t exist). i say more: a 15 dollar chinese knife can be as good as a 200 dollar one if you sharpen it often.
