I guess it depends on what your “career” is. As someone who has their bachelors in Nursing, some of these cities are the worst and lowest paying for nurses.

I moved to ATL in 2017 from Portland OR. At the time… there was no other large city with such a high GDP combined with a relatively low cost of living, those features are usually unheard in that combination. Was the best decision ever considering no one in Oregon would hire me because I don’t meet any DEI requirements

what you said about kids going straight from high school to trade school instead of pursuing a 4-year degree is just not commonly thought, at least where i came from. at my high school, in my graduating class (2020), the amount of kids that went on to study at a private/public university was 94%, the remaining 6% took a gap year. yes you can argue that this was all by choice of the students. but you have to understand, at my high school, everyone was taught that you simply "need at least a bachelor's degree in order to have a good life" i even had an ACT tutor once tell my study group that the best way to find a good spouse is to "go to the most expensive university you get accepted into". not joking. it also didn't help that my family and other people in my life told me the same thing about college versus trade schools. so what was i supposed to do as an impressionable 18-year old? if i didn't take out loans and go to a great school on paper, my family would disown me, my peers would look down on me, and the idea in my head at the time was that i'd have no chance to get ahead in life. so, i was accepted, and attended a private university that offered me a 50% scholarship, and i also received a decent financial aid package. the rest however i took out in loans, and will need to start paying them back later this year. at this point, who knows if it were the right choice or not. i can honestly say that i am pursuing my dream career, but i do not credit my education for ANY of it, as its something i worked towards completely separate from college.

As a Miamian. It should not be in the top best. I am questioning that list now.

Maybe because Miami is constantly getting improved and updated maybe that’s why.

Oxnard is on the beach north of L.A. My twin moved there from the 209 last summer.

You take the train if you work in NY. I would not want hot southern cities. Portland Maine is a great choice.

SLC...clean? lol! It might be cleaner than the Baltimore ghetto, but it always smells awful there, because of the salt lake. I was there one time, it was nauseating to be outside! I hear that lake causes tons of pollution and bad air quality too. Utah's an awesome state, but there are much better parts of it than SLC.
