After reading many reviews and watching a lot of videos, I chose this option for my first backup power station. kzbin.infoUgkxHypYDKHAN93Lp2RQpfvU_ksc70wJ00pt I was between this and a larger option that could power a wider range of items, but the price/size/capacity blend seemed right for this unit. Hasn't gotten a ton of use yet, but the build quality is solid and it charges fine via the Rockpals solar panel I purchased to pair with it. One thing to note is that the screen is optimized for a top down viewing angle, which makes sense, but this means it washes out at other angles - especially low angles. Not a huge deal, but perhaps a better option for the display could be used to provide wider viewing angles.

Important Update 7/17/2023: Due to the apparent overwhelming response to this video, the available stock on this product seems to have (or nearly have) run dry. And VTerun sent me a note this morning saying the following: "We regret to inform you that due to the current stock limitations, we may need to slightly reduce the scale of the ongoing promotion within the next 2-3 days. Nevertheless, your audience with the exclusive discount code will still be able to enjoy the best price available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding in this matter." So be aware that pricing (and availability) on this power station may not reflect the specific numbers I referenced in the video. I did mention in the video that "pricing can and does change"...but I certainly didn't expect it to change THIS quickly. :-/ Just wanted to be upfront about this and let you know as soon as I found out. One or 2 viewers suggested that this might be some kind of bait-n-switch scam...and I assure you that it was not. They just weren't expecting such a big response so quickly. I know not many people will be using the car charging mode unless it's an emergency. But, with that slow charging mode you could use an inexpensive inverter and charge at 200 watts vs the DC cables 100 watt max. Some cars could even handle 300 watts of output from the cigarette lighter port.

The Alpha2000 reminds me a lot of the EcoFlow Delta power station series... It would be great if: 1. double the solar input to 2x 800W 2. put AC and solar charging into the additional batteries 3. put the DC outputs into the additional batteries 4. improve the app with history logging for offline and online use I appreciate the 90 degree connectors for the additional batteries, which do not take take up much space, finally someone's come up with them! No 230V version for Europe?
@Sylvan_dB Жыл бұрын
Without a way to charge the expansion battery independently, that much capacity is mostly just a spec sheet bullet point. Each battery has capacity similar to the power station. That means each battery needs to have the same charging ability as the power station or each battery simply increases the charge time - the first expansion doubles the charge time, the next one adds 50% more charge time, etc. It appears solar charging is completely infeasible. Not having outputs on the expansion battery seems like a huge waste of potential. Of course without a good way to charge the expansion battery I suppose it doesn't matter.

Bluetti were one of the first with expansion batteries, and theirs have independent inputs and outputs (you can even hook them up to seperate solar!), so I don't know why it's so hard for the other manufacturers.
@r3df1ns Жыл бұрын
It's not hard, it comes down to cost. Adding additional inputs means a separate charge controller for each unit and adding the coding/software for the controller to the interface. I agree though, the limit of solar input or the ability to charge independently of the main unit is a deal breaker for me.

$16,000 for the generator and 15 expansion batteries. A combined weight of 690 lbs. Given the dimensions of the generator and the batteries, this will take a significant amount of real estate to accommodate. Additionally with a solar charge limit of 800 watts it would take a significant amount of time to charge the entire system. Most places only have about 4.5 to 5 solar hours. This would give you a maximum of 4000 watts per day. Not sure all the negatives here justify a $16,000 purchase.
@ReeWrayOutdoors Жыл бұрын

@ReeWrayOutdoors Жыл бұрын
I'd say it's going to hinge on how important UPS mode is to you. If it's not a NEED to have, I'd probably go with the Pecron E2000LFP. It's just been an absolute rock -solid workhorse for me after about 10 months of constant use. I don't have enough time on the Alpha quite yet to be able to say that. Also I think the max Solar on the E2000LFP is actually 1200W (600W on each of the 2 inputs), not 1600W...which is still an advantage over the Alpha. I do wish the E2000LFP would let you put the full 1200W into a single port, but since it's limited to 600W each, you have to make 2 cable runs to get more than 600W. Minor annoyance...but it still ranks as one of my favorite power stations.

@ReeWrayOutdoors Жыл бұрын
I did cite the voltage range in the review (10V-100V) and these all have variable current tolerance...depending on the input voltage..but we know that with an 800W max cap, if you were to input at 100V, the max current would have to be 8A. @ReeWrayOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Likely, as long as your mini split can take 110V without an issue. The bigger question is how long can you run. A lot of variables there (ambient temp, temp setpoint...cooling or heating mode, room insulation, etc.), so any estimates on that would be highly subject to variation. But for a rough estimate, say in your environment the compressor runs 50% of the time and pulls 600W continuous while the compressor is running. That would be 300Wh consumed...so with, say...1800Wh of usable capacity, that's about 6 hours of run time (with no other loads). And each expansion would add another 6 hours.

@4:22 Yeah, but they work better when they're operated at 120 Volts AC 60 Hz. This is usually what the internal mosfet transistors and capacitors and IC chips are spec'd to operate at. Yes, these items are designed to (Tolerate) 100 to 120 Volts AC, but they run best @ 120 Volts AC with 20 Amps of current surging through them. Many of these solar genny manufacturers try to hide the fact by simply not listing or mentioning in their marketing material their AC outputs are lacking in Amperage (Read Current) handling capabilities. I have seen some power stations having AC output ports with current limitations as low as 5 measley amps ! 👎🏻That's simply ridiculous ! Anything less than 15 Amps on a 120 Volt AC outlet is pointless, and even dangerous ! Want to wear out your kitchen appliances at a 10 times rate ? Operate them undercurrent. If you want a nominal power station, which is guaranteed to have AC outputs which are stable and ample to their tasks, then you want an inverter unit which is rated to output 20 Amps of current at the AC output socket, and runs at 120 nominal and stable Volts AC. Anyone who tells you these ratings have no real bearing on how your stuff will run is not being totally honest with you, or they simply don't know what they're talking about ! Here's a tip. Look at where they AC output sockets are located in these solar genny product videos. All sockets which have "real" 20 Amp outputs will have one of the side tabs sockets with a horizontal stroke in it. Look for this. If they don't seem to really want to show you the back of a unit which has the AC on that side away from the camera, then that could be a red flag !@11:18 I'm not surprised at your unusually good AC efficiency rating of the inverter. The Solar Genny power station manufacturers are manufacturing more efficient AC inverters now because of the demand for running time versus battery size and capacity. People want more capacity at a lighter weight, which is a balancing act to achieve. I believe EcoFlow tops the market in terms of performance and capacity running times.@ 12:40 Uhh just a minute that's not quite what I want. What I want is the solar panels to turn the unit on and begin charging, but I also want it to turn on the AC inverter and begin outputting AC power once again as well. I also want to be able to program this in a phone app so I can monitor what's happening and when.
