I had an idea for a DOOM film, or even a TV series. From a narration standpoint, a DOOM film starring the DoomGuy himself would be rather difficult, especially if it tries to remain faithful to the series. So I had an idea that a DOOM film could take place during the events of DOOM Eternal and showcases a group of people caught amidst the demonic invasion. As they struggle for survival, there will be a moment when they become trapped and cornered by a demon, like a baron. They realize they are dead, when suddenly, the DoomSlayer smashes through a wall and fights the baron, saving their lives. He stands over the corpse after an epic glory kill. He looks over his shoulder at them, his angry scowl barely visible through his visor. The survivors thank him and ask him to help them escape, saying where they are trying to go, but he just looks away and walks off, super shotgun in hand. They would encounter him several more times, sometimes in the background, leaping from demon to demon, sometimes directly aiding the survivors. I would even have the Phobos Base scene recreated, where he grabs the key around that guy's neck and drags him along. The end would be a crazy fight with the Icon of Sin, and while the DoomSlayer fights it himself, the survivors decide to provide aid where they can that affect the fight, but not taking the DoomSlayer's glory away from him. Or we could just go the Hardcore Henry route and strap a GoPro to DoomGuy's head and let him go to town.

Maybe modern Doomguy, but people forget he is stated to actually talked in the past and been hurt as any human. They should start from the first game, or even going back to the Davoth vs Vega conflict, that would be awesome.

I swear the OG 2005 movie is underrated as hell. Sure the writing is weird and really doesn’t make sense sometimes lore wise. But if you look at it like you’d look at the OG game it’s very much more about action and not as much about story. Even then, the OG movie managed to tell a very different but “in my opinion” unique take on the classic hell takeover of Mars.

I do believe a lot of this will depend on the success of Gran Turismo (which Neil was directing), as that film is also a well know video game franchise and if it bombs, then there won't be much of a reason for studios to invest in Neils "alleged" Doom idea. So if anyone is hoping for a Doom movie next, you'd better start buying tickets to Gran Turismo then.

One of my favorite movies from Neill is "Chappie". It's fun, and it tells a pretty good story about a police robot who becomes sentient, becomes a "special gangster", and pets a dog at one point. Every time I watch it, it pains me to see that Neill left it on a cliffhanger and never made a sequel because it didn't get enough revenue opening week in theaters. If these tweets mean what everyone thinks they mean, then this will probably be the second most hyped movie since the FNAF movie. I just hope they don't make the doom guy talk at all, and if he does, it better be something badass and at the very end of the movie. I also hope they make the BFG look... well... accurate to the game.

I believe that making a DOOM movie is an extremely difficult task and here are the reasons why : 1) The Doom Marine doesn't talk, at all. It would be very weird to have this badass marine have conversations with survivors (if there are any). You could probably make the character talking to himself but this takes amazing acting skills and I don't think there's this kind of talent in Hollywood nowadays. The Doom Marine is tall, muscular, impulsive, angry at demons, and probably has PTSD way above what would be considered "normal". What kind of actor would you pick? The guy basically has the physique of The Rock but is blonde with blue eyes. Who do you pick? Chris Hemsworth?? Naaaaa, he's way above his pay grade. I really don't know who could portray the Doom Marine flawlessly, or at least be good enough to let the illusion slide and enjoy the movie. 2) The story sucks. Let's be honest here, it's bare bones. "Scientists invented interplanetary travel and discovered teletransportation. Teletransportation makes hell break loose" That's basically the plot. Hell and demons break out through teletransportation devices, with their presence they "infect" the world they're in and allow more satanic shit to happen. You get zombies, possessed soldiers, all kinds of monsters. How the hell do you get the budget to even make this into an enjoyable and thrilling movie? I know we have the technology to make amazing films, but look at what's been coming out of Hollywood lately and you'll get my point... 3) The story of the Doom Marine is without an end. The games seem to imply that he ends up being eternally locked in hell, condemned to fight demons for eternity. Let's say this movie has overwhelming success (if it were to happen) : How many fucking DooM movies would we have? How would you keep it interesting? For how long? I don't know I guess I'm too biased or I just have seen enough shitty sci-fi movies to think that a DooM movie, even if well done, wouldn't go as far and therefore wouldn't be a good movie. Just my 2 cents though.

Have you watched Harcore Henry? I think if we had something like that mixed with the first RE Movie (yes that one with Mila Jovovich) and a bit of Aliens, we could have a good movie! Good, not great! The story is just "oh boy, everything went nuts while I was here! What about now? Okay, I guess I have to kill everything!" they can add tense moments with the zombies and possessed soldiers! Can have one single Pinky following Doom Guy around when he is out of ammo and weapons and then he finds the super shotgun and have a difficult but awesome fight with it, more story goes as he explores to find key cards to open the next area and booom he found a place filled with pinkies! There's a way to make a good story!
@Absalohm
@Absalohm Жыл бұрын
@@andremalerba5281 What you described wouldn't make a good movie because it's based on purely action. A movie is also made of dialogue, emotional content, thrilling moments, and satisfying action sequences. A good example of a sci-fi movie containing all of those things is Terminator 1 (and Terminator 2... I'm not talking about the rest of the franchise which sucks ass). Yes I have watched Hardcore Henry, but it's basically a video game without controls. All I remember from this movie is action sequences. That's it. Does DooM have the potential to be a movie as good as Terminator? Yes, in my opinion it does. But as I said in my previous comment, I don't think there's the potential in Hollywood to make such a movie, for the reasons that I stated before.
@Absalohm
@Absalohm Жыл бұрын
@@nov1s991 From what I remember, that ending suggests that the Doomslayer will be called upon once more, but we don't know how or when. The ending text says "May the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again". The blood that never dries implies that he still uses it, so he keeps killing demons and stuff. "May we never need you again" suggests a wish for eternal peace, which is clearly not possible. Also that ending is kinda twisted because The Father says "All things were made by his hands, even you"... Yet the Father still lives, the angels as well, yet only the Doomslayer seems to falter and fall asleep. That, to me, suggests that Existence (intended as a whole) will always be in conflict, there will always be monsters, killings, hell... So for now the Doomslayer isn't needed because the biggest threat has been dealt with. But he will rise again as soon as shit hits the fan again.

I could see a Doom movie being successful if it is shot like a John Wick movie. John Wick is not a very talkative character though smart, and terrifying on a battlefield, much like doomguy. I could see him getting through hordes of imps, like the nightclub agents, the bosses like how Wick uses his surroundings and skills to take down tougher more skillful foes. Little excerpts of dialogue, can be shown with the night sentinels.

If he makes a Doom movie, I hope to God John Cena is live action Doomguy. He’s literally perfect for the role. He was awesome as Peacemaker and Jakob in Fast and the Furious.

Ive got a question for you @Midnight. Have you experienced any issues with your Doom Eternal after 6.66? Started playing it again after more than a year and my game keeps freezing. Got any fixes?

Neil should work on both Doom 1 and 2. A simple yet easy to create premise to the original, a man against the forces of hell. He just needs an Actor and told him that he doesn't any dialogue to tell the viewers just actions. Because the original, Doom guy doesn't have any dialogue just grunts and screams.

I feel as if mostly faithful doom movie can be made in the style of john wick or sisu, a mostly silent protagonist with practically non stop action, with the occasional break from action for the sake of pacing, that break can be used to either explore the little story (at least the little story the original game had) to show how doomguy ended up on the base etc, or else doomguy looking over a destroyed earth and almost reminiscing, giving his character just a touch of emotion while keeping up with his badassery. A brutal gory and violent action film with a pumping soundtrack has been done b4 and done well, if one were to adapt that style to doom i feel as if the doom movie people have been craving will be greatly satisfied.

I’ve noticed that fan made films and animations are superior to the actual films. And that makes sense. When fans who actually understand and respect the franchise make their own creations, it usually turns out pretty well, compared to the corporations who don’t understand anything simply making it for money

I don't know. Doom isn't exactly known for its strong narrative. This could work as a short(ish) action horror - I can't see it being stretched over 2 hours.

I think instead of retelling the games I think it would be awesome if we saw the story of the unholy crusades before 2016 where we see him fight and kill the Champion Titan

My idea for a doom movie would be 1 following the original doom, doom 2 and doom 64, and then a couple going through the lore of 2016 and eventually eternal (with possible shows to fill in on some of the other aspects of the story)

I wonder if the protagonist should even have lines, i would reference some of the stuff he says in the comics, but other than that the whole movie would be silent and doomguy would have bruce cambell level of facial expressions the entire time

if they can somehow properly incapsulate the sheer adrenaline rushing violence that DOOM is all about then I don't really care where they took the story, cuz at least in my humble opinion, this would be the only fulfilling way to truly do the DOOM franchise justice with an adaptation. To really give non-gamers an actual taste of what DOOM is like.

It's true, that Halo short film project was more exciting with better effects than most blockbusters. Somehow cheap or diy effects end up just looking more real in an action setting.
