I noted that reliability is not mentioned at all in this review. Features, design and specs all don't mean much if you are having little or big things going wrong on your bike over time and you are getting frustrated. I want to know what makes for quality components, what makes for quality electronics. Are spare parts available? What is the experience with service? This is the kind of information I am looking for.

I totally agree. I plan on using it for my business so I need reliability , get the job done. Have you found any videos or articles ?

Agree - feedback on color choices or paint job isn’t the kind of info I’m seeking. Something on how long a battery lasts, how quickly it charges, dependability, reliability and customer service…. Way more important.

My wife and I both have two year old Aventon Levels. For us these are road bikes in the Boise foothills. We’re 70 and don’t off road and did not want fat tire bikes. Both bikes have performed well. Mine has nearly 8,000 miles on it. I did just have the rear brakes replaced. They were completely shot. The tires are original with plenty of miles still left on them. We paid $1,400 each before prices got stupid. We’re very happy with these bikes.

i'm curious if any of these companies have put any thought into security, considering that their $2,000 to $4,000 ebikes are major targets for thefts in every large city, as it would take a thief 5 seconds to steal them.

Found it interesting when you guys talked about the way you felt 'one with the bike' when riding the Specialized. This will be my fourth season on my Specialized Como 3.0 and it is amazing the comfort, confidence, and quiet ride ability you feel on this platform. The pedal assist keeps you engaged, alert, and on turbo level is almost effortless. I am about ready to hit 10,000 miles and I'd say pretty close to 40% has been medium difficulty trails. I ride this bike hard and have been able to get about 5,000 miles per cassette, brake pads, and rear tire. Still using original front tire and discs. Those who think you can't stay in shape using an e-bike, try the pedal assist..

@rickmave76072 жыл бұрын
@@johnesparza9149 This bike will do 28 MPH with the pedal assist. My bike shop owner said that I should be able to get around 12,000 miles on the battery. When I bought it I paid 2,400 dollars for it. Not bad when you consider the battery is 900 and charger about 350.

My radrunner plus is everything I hoped it would be. One important point if you purchase a utility style bike, make sure the seat is adjustable like the radrunner plus. I looked at a competitor with a non adjustable seat that had mag style wheels instead of spokes which would be a good feature .A non adjustable seat is going to perfectly match only if you are one common height. Radrunner plus is extremely solid, no questions about the step thru being strong enough to never fail. I believe the rad rover mini step thru would be a good alternative, with the ability to be folded, negating the need for a carrier rack, $500 less money and an excellent choice. No I have no regrets on my purchase of the radrunner plus and if you wanted to with its 350 pound cargo rating you can carry a passenger, pull a deer hauler or wagon, and haul a lot with the available large extra sturdy basket. The basket is made for the front but I turned it parallel to the bike , drilled two holes and installed on the back. Turning it was essential to being able to easily get it through a doorway.

When purchasing an ebike, should we take into account repair shops in your area? If Trek is sold in your town, but RAD isn’t, should you go with Trek? Or are these bikes pretty easy for any mechanic to handle? Just thinking of cars as an example, I wouldn’t buy a Tesla because we have no repair shops anywhere near me. Any thoughts?

In general, yes. If you plan on doing frequent riding it's worth making sure your local shop would be comfortable handling maintenance/repairs on a given bike. Also check with the company you plan on going with. Just as you mentioned Rad in your example, they habve mobile service offerings and an online help center for such things. They may even be able to find a local mechanic to you that can handle your problem. www.radpowerbikes.com/pages/rad-service

I have a CSC 750 Xp 20 i bought 1 year ago.I have 850 miles on it and it is flawless.BTW it is also dual drive.I put a 1000 watt hub motor on the front attached to a 48 V 20 ah battery---stock it already had a 750 bafang with a 48v 14ah. I have 100 mile plus range with light peddling and a 34 mph top speed battery only with just the front.I have posted videos on my setup and I can ride anywhere up to motocross level terrain and can also go up to the local high end restaurant and pull it up on the sidewalk and go eat--or goto the local park--or offroad trails--these things are fantastic. One thing for new users so they do not quit--buy a cloud 9 or the best padded seat and an adjustable seat post--about 50 to 100 dollars in total depending on the quality.I spent 30 on a seat and about 25 on the seatpost and it made a world of diffrence.If you can afford it--dual drive your ebike--it is the best thing I could have done.850 miles of all sorts of riding from street to medium trails and my tires still have about 60% tread.The 26 inch bikes are VERY big--buyer beware--I am 6ft 1 and have a 20 inch and it is just as big as my normal mountainbike.Go look at them live before you buy cause you will be shocked at how big even the 20 inch ones are.

This is a helpful video, thank you. I’m looking for my second e-bike and would appreciate if you included the experience of shorter riders in your reviews. For example, would your wife also describe the experience on the Specialized as feeling one with the bike? I’m 5’1” and even if bikes come small enough for me, the geometry is often uncomfortable. I have big hills on my commute and I really don’t want to tackle them in an upright position or with the bike geometry making it difficult to stand up. Another issue is that when I lower the seat, I’m not able to use accessories like pannier racks or my Trail-A-Bike. Can you please do a review for e-bikes for riders under 5’6”? Seat post height adjustment doesn’t necessarily equal usability. And a short stature doesn’t necessarily mean that we only do leisure riding.

@@franksplace551 I specified the 500 watt-hour battery over the 400wh. Glad I did. I like the tour and turbo torque modes for an occasional fun blast uphill and the 500wh lasts longer on a charge. Also, I like the stock tires. I found it to be a surprisingly easy roller without motor assist on a level road. The eco mode will sip power and help tow the trailer up hill.

How would you compare the Haibike Trekking 4.0 to the Ride1Up 700 series? The bike will be used as a commuter in the mountains of Norway, as well as some gravel roads.
@unreliablenarrator66492 жыл бұрын
So you guys do not consider European or Asian brands of bikes? Too bad, you are missing a lot of great bikes in all categories save Fat Bikes, and some that would definitely top some of your categories, particularly for commuter, utility and mountain bikes. In fact, it was European brands that really pioneered these categories and have some of the best-engineered frames and drivetrains. That you do not feature a single bike with a Bosch drive is really surprising.

I really want the RadCity 5 Plus! I had it in the cart, kitted with the child seat and accessories but my lady says that we have to go look at local shops first. They had better have something that looks better because I'm pretty set on it.

I couldn't find a local shop that sells Class 2 bikes, so I could only find pedal-assist only bikes for like $3,800.
@Mainstayjay Жыл бұрын
@@smileychess At the time I commented I ended up going to a local shop and buying an Aventon Level. Class 2 and 3 capable when unlocked. I have had it one year and just recently reached 5,700 miles on the odometer. I don't drive a car very much anymore and I'm going to keep commuting with the bike so the mileage will only go up. I replaced tires and brake pads, I do all servicing myself and there has not been any breakdowns. I couldn't be more pleased with it. I'm currently looking at E-trikes for my girlfriend since she's not comfortable on two wheels.

Thanks for your informative video and I totally agree that Aventon produces a good e-bike at their price-point. Unfortunately Aventon has a history of poor customer service and many prior-owners have indicated online that Aventon will not honor their warranty. Additionally Aventon has minimal required parts in stock such as their specific replacement battery or proprietary controller and without these necessary parts, your e-bike will become a boat anker. If a consumer is willing to drop over $2100 on an Aventon and is willing to chance that their e-bike will come perfect and never breakdown, then Aventon is their choice. Unfortunately ALL e-bikes will have mechanical and electrical issues and if a company is unwilling to stand behind their product, then the consumer should seek an alternative e-bike selection. In my honest opinion, Rad currently has the best overall product. Although Rad isn't the fastest nor the coolest looking e-bike, Rad does produce a great product, at a fair price point and their customer service and warranty are excellent. Good Luck on your selection.

I would agree with you for the beginning of 2021 when it came out and they were not prepared for the explosion of sales on this model but there service has been corrected and as for backing there product I had a issue with my break lever and they had me a new part within 9 days. Not disagreeing with you just implying that it has gotten way better. Also hands down the best fat bike out there. Himingway and Rad just doesn't compare.

Thank you for the report! Are there any ultra light weight e-bikes you recommend? I live in a NYC apartment, 3 flights of stairs up, therefore weight is my number 1 priority as I need to carry it upstairs (with heavy bags of groceries hanging from the handlebar bar at times). I have been riding for the last 5 years on a Gocycle G3 (36 pounds), which has been really good for me as it is slim and I can take inside stores, trains, Uber and buildings (I am a realtor), and in case I need to leave it outside for a few minutes, I can chain it and also remove a wheel or two in 5 seconds and take them with me as they weigh very, very little. It is also very attractive and attention grabbing, and it is a constant conversation piece with total strangers, even with the less friendly new yorkers, of all ages ( I am a shaved head 58 years old male, not exactly a hot chick). As I am thinking I need a replacement soon, and if I stick to Gocycle models, it would cost me $6-7K, I was wondering if you can suggest other less expensive but valid alternatives.

I also find it so curious that some ebikes are 1500-2000$ and 4000-6000$. Frankly makes me nervous about the quality of the lesser-priced rides, i.e., WHY such a price difference in something that has relatively few "parts".

In the case of the fat tire bike there seems to be three types, battery behind the saddle post, between the two bars or kind of added inside the frame ( like the third model in the video) what do u recommend ?

Static presentation supplemented by hand movements and shots of not talking to camera. I would have liked to see a reviewer showing viewers around a bike ie interacting with it and being mobile, as you might in a bike shop. Your selection ensured that most people could be excited by at least one e-bike. Maybe you could add a favourite conversion kit for pedal-only bikes. It might help get more people riding, although I'd hesitate to call it cycling!
