Now that brings back old memories. One of my members who was a single digit hc got where he couldn't make a good swing and was all over the place. I gave him the feet together drill and told him to play golf like that and a couple of weeks later he said he was making pars more and a month later he said he just widen his stance just a little and is playing good golf again. I didn't change anything just gave him the drill. You are right on about the drill.

I've read in the comments about people using this with the driver. I had never thought of that or use it on the course. What a great idea for getting your game back. @thehairygolferАй бұрын
Keen is mostly good Paul. I played 18 after this and it didn't like going uphill and down dale. There were a couple of fast 2 balls after me and I just let them through so I could walk slower. The only shame of that practice area is the wind is a little off the left which isn't ideal for a right hander. But very nice to hit your own balls for free.

Don't rush it. Might not be easy off mats, well, I don't find it easy off mats. I will be doing it tomorrow night. Then you take it to the driver. The question I ask myself is how much extra distance will I get if I try and belt the driver. Maybe 3 to 5 yards. Doesn't seem worth the effort and maybe hitting it offline. I will try one every now and then if there is a bunker I want to avoid but I'd rather be in sync and hit fairways. I do this drill most weeks but hate it off the mats.

@@thehairygolfer yeah I hate the mats, it hurts my shoulder. But I thought about hitting the 7 iron off a tee. I feel like I'd be not so much working on the strike but on tempo and balance. 100 balls off the mat is a big no no, my shoulder wouldn't take it.

I've never been a big one for drills, I struggle to stick with them long term. Saying that however, I've recently been doing this very drill and have found it to be really helpful. I actually do it with all my clubs including the driver although I do have my feet a little bit apart but still extremely narrow. It's amazing how much better my hips move while hitting with the narrow and like you said, the speed comes where and from where you need it and not from that over the top heave. My query with drills is, do I try to get the same feelings in my on course swing or do I just hope that the drill is bringing the moves/feels into my swing.
@thehairygolferАй бұрын
I've found it the best over the years. I hate it off mats so I haven't done it so much this year. As to the course I just try to maintain the same tempo. Resist the urge to belt one. Having said that, I always feel there is an extra 5 yards carry in the bank on the driver and maybe every now and then a shot appears that wants it.
