Hey Chaps! If you have UNLIMITED money, what laptop would you buy right now? CORRECTION: Tests against the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H featured the 2024 Huawei MateBook 14, not the MateBook X Pro (same chip, same 70Wh battery though).

Unfortunately AMD isn't as good at GPU as it is at CPU, so I'd go with the Asus Zephyrus G16 OLED 240Hz with an AMD CPU over Intel and an Nvidia RTX 4080/4090 on board. But there is no such choice.
@AyoHues

These forthcoming launches make it a terrible time to splash out on a current generation laptop but if you gave me a suitcase full of cash and pointed a gun at me then a £7k top spec MacBook Pro or a top spec AMD powered G16 or Razer 16 with a 4090 would probably be the way go. 😂

The battery life at 10ish hours in 2024 for a laptop like this is no longer on the green for me. With battery degradation, that number could quickly go down to 6-7 in as little as 3y of use. Does the highest efficiency mode decrease the refresh rate? I wonder how much the battery life would improve in whisper plus 60hz.

USB4 supports eGPUs, and matches thunderbolt 4 performance. The S16 is killer for me as a student where I can put it on power saver mode and get 12-14 hours of battery life. Then plug it in and have an eGPU and configure the ryzen 9 for 40w power draw using universal tuning utility. I did rip out the graphite pad and fan filters for more cooling when on my laptop cooler. I sort of modded the VRM cooling too by slapping thermal putty between the chassis and small heat sink on them. The back gets hotter now but only when I have it plugged in so it doesn't matter as it's not on my lap.

might be a stupid question, but would it be possible to turn off the fans? If i were to use it in bed, i would not like it to suck in bed dust or even block the air intake off. If you disable the cpu turbo boost do temps drop by a lot? From my experience I always get at least -10c less for not much difference in performance as a trade in, regarding everyday tasks and games ofc. Might be worth trying on this one because the temps are toasty and unsafe. Would personally never buy anything by Asus so I'll wait for HP or Lenovo to put Stryx Point in their own laptops.

tbh on laptops i'm not the biggest fan of OLEDs, they're way too power hungry i'd much rather have a good IPS

Asus, I'm writing for you. When will you learn how to put speakers on top so that music plays directly into your ears, even when the laptop is on its knees? When will you learn how to distribute type c to both sides of a laptop? When will you hear from your customers about the keyboard? Try even better to become perfect.

I like, or at least can live with, every aspect of this laptop... except for the soldered ram. Not being able to load it up with buckets of ram is a deal-breaker.

I have a few ZenBooks in the past. what disappoint me the most is the build quality of the laptops. the chassis has creak sound everywhere not a solid build like the MacBook. i do not know about this model though. hope it is solid

Liked. How do the speakers compare with the much vaunted Lenonvo Yoga 9i Pro 16" 2024 model? Those are likely the best windows speakers thus far. Thank you for the review.

Get the hx365 model instead($1800?) Honestly the 34 watt power limit clips the performance of the HX 370 890m GPU so the 365 with 880m is a better deal ...

I recently purchased an ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 with the Ryzen 9 AI HX 370 4070 RTX for both university and gaming use. I wanted to check if my FPS in CS2 is normal. I'm getting an average of 90-130 FPS with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2560x1600. I have 4x MSAA, 16x anisotropic filtering, and the rest of the settings on high. Is this performance within the expected range or it should be much higher??
