Johns is a mixed bag though. He was one of the people involved in the pretty awful and uncommercial DCEU going back to the New 52 set up, and if we are honest, a lot of his comics outside GL aren't good. He tries to be edgy like Grant Morrison. No thanks.

I don't blame Jim Lee for DC crashing down. He was just selected to be in charge when everyone was already abandoning ship. Now with Paul Dini, I know he'd be great to get story and continuity back on track! I also think Bruce Timm would make a great consultant- and no, I have no problem with an Adult driven Harley Quinn film as it spawned a successful adult series a few years later. It wasn't a Joe Quasada incident...and hopefully never again.( Cough...One More Day...Cough)

I really like all three of these great talents. I’d like to see Paul Dini be the guy in charge, though, for all the reasons you guys brought out. In addition to those, however, I believe Paul would waste no time in getting both Geoff and Bruce back in the bullpen and firing on all cylinders, possibly in chief editorial positions over their own lines as well as being writers. I loved DC Rebirth ( and Doomsday Clock ). It made me as hopeful and re-energized as I’d been in many, many, many years. Maybe with Paul, Geoff and Bruce we could get a DC Comics Resurrection.

Geoff Johns should be in charge at DC comics. Some stupid accusations made by Ray Fisher should not banish Geoff Johns from DC. Geoff should also bring back Jay Fabok, Gary Frank, Greg Capullo, Scott Snyder, Robert Vendetti, Dan Jurgens and let get REBIRTH back on track. Paul Dini and Alan Burnett should be working for DC entertainment. At the very least they could get material straight to HBO Max. Realistically they should be in charge of DC movies and DCEU.

I'm so happy that you interviewed some one who actually knows what he is saying when it comes to Bruce Timm. I will forever be thankful to Bruce Timm for giving us the dcau. But he had alot of really strong highly intelligent creative writers to do most of the really heavy lifting . We saw when he was working alone and the end result was the first 30 minutes of the killing joke. I totally agree with him about PD. He is a great writer who understand these characters.

I like much of the stories written by Geoff Johns, and he knows the DC Universe. I was not crazy about Flashpoint because at the end it was used to reboot the DC Universe into a darker, more violent, bloody universe. If Rebirth had continued, maybe we would see more of our favorite DC characters that went missing. I would task Geoff Johns to lead DC Comics.

Paul Dini is absolutely the right man for the job. He understands the characters, and he could tweak some of the changes to characters that Fans have hated and write them in a more organic way( Tim and Jon’s coming out for example. Not saying that their sexuality should be walked back, but Paul would make us care about seeing those journeys, because he focus on treating them as people first, not just storyline points. After all, Paul is the one who sold fans on Harley and Ivy being a couple in the first. They’re on of DC’s most popular pairings. Moreover, Paul would re-inject a sense of fun, adventure and heart back into the universe. I’d have him oversee the teen Titans/Titans and the Legion of Superheroes; something besides just Superman and Batman, the easy choices. Bruce Timm has a tendency to sexualize Batgirl and is obsessed with her hooking up with Batman. So just no… he shouldn’t be in charge. Let him stick to animation and the new Batman cartoon for HBO Max.

He unified several books under core concepts and is an idea man, I think he has alot of jack kirby cerebral and lore focused mentality. I would love to see a several year story arc by Hickman, on The Legion. Maybe start him on Teen Titans, then Legion, and end up on Justice League. Let him really tie the various threads of the DC Universe together, and create a more cohesive timeline.

What Bruce Timm and Paul Dini deserve major credit for is navigating and finding excellent creative solutions given the limitations imposed on them. Batman Beyond is a prime example where the network made a marketing decision and ordered a younger version of Batman that appealed to a younger audience, which could have been a lazily approached disaster but instead they made a smart classic that found a way to give the network what it wanted without compromising what made their previous shows the gold standard of quality and excellence in animated action entertainment.
