Jason playing Jason Becker's numbers guitar is insane. He did a good job of playing Nick Jonas' solo too lmao.

The acoustic part @4:03 is a cover of 'Rylynn' by Andy McKee, another one of the greatest guitarists ever!
@nanatzaya2 жыл бұрын
Came to say that too. This song is simply beautiful and it's "just" one of the many masterpieces Andy produced. I wonder what he's up to today. Time for some research i guess.

Came here for the same. I heard those notes and my life went full circle and ripped a hole in the time-space continuum. I haven't heard Andy in YEARS and best believe my k-hole is set for the night.

Im still in awe of how the Jason Becker stuff still holds up even today. It has that Bach, Mozart longevity and quality feel to it compared to other shredders.

Yeah. Sadly we didn't get to see his full potential.

3:21 that's Jason Becker's "Numbers" guitar, probably his most recognisable guitar. They auctioned it off to help with the costs for his medical care (he has ALS and can pretty much only do facial movements now). Jason Richardson was playing it during that time to get people talking about the auction. Well, more than they already were, Becker is a legend after all. The three guitars they put up for auction got sold for 230k in the end

I think they're a preset in his new VST, I haven't checked it out yet though, I use the Archetype: Petrucci VST Edit: though I guess this answer only counts if you play guitar through a DAW and not an actual amp.

4:00 I bought the p00mbachu tabs and I have never, IN MY LIFE, been so called out before, I’ve stared, and stared, and stared for hours now and I don’t understand which guitar is the lead even though it’s labeled
@paulabernethy83962 жыл бұрын
I have the same thoughts when I watch you play Nik. I have been playing guitar for a lot longer than you and you make me feel like an amateur. It is all a matter of perspective. I have great respect fir anyone who commits to mastering their instruments the way you guys have (on all the levels). I think Jason would even give John Petrucci doubts in his ability (and I love JP). Lol 😃🙏🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
@eliteextremophile88952 жыл бұрын
I was gonna say something similar about Petrucci, but he's inherently grounded and just incredible person. He understands the point of being a musician better than so many other great players. You can't put doubt in his ability, as you can't put it in Jason head. They're from different planets, so to speak. Only one that can actually put doubt into just about everyone is Guthrie Govan, but he's not gonna lol

the thing I love the most about Jason's playing is the impressive and godlike precision in picking. You can hear every single note even when they are as fast as light. That right hand should be considered like HACKING and CHEATING.

That glitch thing is what Michael Romeo does, he would demonstrate a solo slowly and in there would be a short burst of notes that's insanely fast even at the slower tempo, and all the notes are still there when he plays it fast, it's just a "oh fuck off" at that point

Jason has said previously that if it wasn't for Dream Theater's Train of Thought album (2003) then he wouldn't be the player he is today and I'm the same way. I'm nowhere near as good as Jason but that album was by far the most influential during my early years of playing guitar.
