I love to watch his program on KZbin. It transformed my work a lot as well

Nicks course focuses on design theory like differences, value contrast, composition etc. It’s a better course for artists that have been at it awhile and have their own established aesthetic. He’s really good at critiquing to make your work better but I didn’t find I learned anything technique wise. Using “play” as he calls it is absolutely helpful in growth, but you have to learn xyz first. I find other courses are more helpful when you’re getting started as an artist so it depends what you’re looking for and what stage you’re at in your art practice. CVP is also VERY expensive (I have taken it as well) so there is that. Xo

I've signed up for the free workshop, thanks! I had been watching some of Nicholas' KZbin vids but didn't know there was a free option. I can definitely do 5 days of watching him be talented 😊

Haha, yes could watch him all day motivate me 😄 The free course is a great condensed version of his teachings.

Thank you for your insights of CVP. I took it this year as a new artist, and you are correct, it is overwhelming. But that there is a year to work through the info, it’s fine to have so much info. I so enjoy your watching process and your videos, and your work is breathtaking.
@jclosestudio2 ай бұрын
Hi Jill! If you are a new artist, definitely take your time going through the materials. More time than the live course allows for. But I'd still set a schedule when you want to go through each module, otherwise the year might pass without you having worked through the materials and other things got in the way. And paint as much as you can, that's the quickest way to learn. And then hopefully a lot of my process makes more sense to you too!

Thank you, Douglas! Is there anything particular you’d like to learn? Also, do you prefer shorter classes or a more in-depth course?

I've done the last two free workshops, it's always so good. Can't afford CVP, over three and a half grand in Australian dollars, too prohibitive, but it's been great learning a few new tricks. Looking forward to watching this video, was only just thinking if you knew about it so that's good to know 👍

Absolutely, the full course is pricey! But even in the free version I had lots of A-ha moments.

i actually find Louise Fletcher 's course even better. She was a student of Nick and then she developed her own notion of finding your joy through art process and her approach is more fulfilling and less structured. He is fun to watch but at times his teachings are really boring while hers are always fascinating.
@jclosestudio8 ай бұрын
Her course is also fantastic! I took that one as well, I'm a little addicted to courses 😄 I learned a bit more from CVP, but Find Your Joy also teaches a lot of valuable information.

I can strongly recommend Pam Caughey in US. Am currently taking her long course and it’s fantastic. As it’s spread over a longer period than CVP there is much more time to absorb and put into practice what you’re learning - and there is a lot! She also studied with Nick, and I very much enjoy his many videos and free short courses. Pam’s approach is very thorough and detailed, and combines the fun of exploration with the rigour needed to really move you forward. I’m halfway through her course and can already see a huge development in my painting.
@dumitriudaniela8 ай бұрын
@@prose3562 I feel Pam has a different vibe than Nick and Louise, maybe more oriented towards techniques than the felt response to the art process and i dont resonate with her. But its amazing how many artists have taken Nick's course, isnt it?
