Love your expressive abstract approach. It’s so helpful to hear what you are thinking as you are making choices around marks, textures, colors and the techniques you are using to address each one. Very few instructors provide that level of access into their thinking process. Many thanks!

Thank you for these suggestions, Jeannine. They are just what I need, as I often find myself stumped with unfinished paintings that are not quite there. I find your videos very helpful and I appreciate your calm, peaceful demeanor too. I hope you're enjoying your day.

Hope you’re having a lovely day too! I’m glad it’s helping you with your paintings. When I’m stuck I often leave it for a few days (or even weeks!) and look at it with fresh eyes.

Thank u for sharing your practice and thoughts. I want to know how keep everything in ur space paints free.

Haha, it may look paint free on camera, but it certainly isn’t. That being said I try not to paint too splashy. But when I use large brushes it definitely gets more messy

It's great to watch you transform the busy painting to a much calmer piece. I can't wait to see how it turns out in the end. I have to say, your diction is sheer perfection, and you would be a lip readers dream. 🤩

Thank you for sharing your process with these larger pieces Jeannine 🙏🏻. I love watching each stage emerge and your bravery covering lovely elements to transition to the next stage. I have a mix of favourite aspects with abstract, enjoy movement and texture but at the same time want to find the stillness. I love pieces that manage to create a beautiful soft stillness with some busy elements but also have a balance of movement. 🤍 This is what I’m experiencing in my own work at the moment. Still trying to figure out what to convey. All I know is that I resist shapes with straight lines, I immediately want to cover them up. Anything free flowing and organic I love. 😍. But also there is something so liberating in allowing the painting to emerge, you just never know how it’s going to turn out. 😍. As always much gratitude to you and your amazing creativity and your calm serene approach to your beautiful art. 😍 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻.

Thanks so much Andrea! That’s so interesting. You just made me realise that I’m also more and more trying to cover up straight edges, where I used to be quite drawn to geometric shapes.

Super! comme toujours! Pour la transparence, prends un chiffon au lieu d'un pinceau. Ca évite les marques. J'aime la sérénité et l'énergie, ça dépend de mes humeurs ;)

Thank you! Great suggestion. Sometimes I use a cloth. It just soaks up more of the paint. I should just apply several layers like that, but I’m too impatient!

How do you start a painting?
@jclosestudioАй бұрын
Hi Joan! I usually cover the canvas with leftover paint. Once it's not blank anymore it's much easier to work over. I've made a couple of videos on that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXmommOYhdakfsU kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6rIg6KGe82Hjdk
